| Form 990, Part III, Line 4a Program Service Accomplishments | SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital Foundation provides philanthropic dollars to support the healing mission of SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital and all SSM Health (SSMH) Oklahoma healthcare facilities of providing exceptional, compassionate healthcare to the people and communities we serve, including the poor and vulnerable. SSM Health Oklahoma is comprised of SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital, SSM Health Bone and Joint Hospital at St. Anthony, SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Shawnee, St. Anthony North, St. Anthony South, numerous clinics and the East, South, North and Mustang (West) Healthplexes. Through our Saints 1st Affiliate Health Network of 16 rural hospitals, we are strengthening healthcare throughout Oklahoma by providing telemedicine, specialty physicians, technology assistance and caring for critically ill patients transferred each month to receive care their home hospital cannot provide. Since it was founded in 1872 by Catholic sisters, SSM Health (SSMH) has existed to meet the health needs of the communities it serves. SSMH is a Catholic, not-for-profit health system serving the comprehensive health needs of communities across the Midwest through one of the largest integrated delivery systems in the nation. With care delivery sites in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin, SSMH includes 23 acute care hospitals, one children's hospital, more than 300 physician offices and other outpatient and virtual care services, 10 post-acute facilities, comprehensive home care and hospice services, a pharmacy benefit company, a health insurance company, and an Accountable Care Organization. The health system employs nearly 40,000 people and is affiliated with 11,000 physicians making it one of the largest employers in every community it serves. In the tradition of its founding sisters, SSMH strives to fulfill its mission by providing exceptional health care to everyone who comes to its hospitals, regardless of their ability to pay. Our top priority is the health, comfort and satisfaction of our patients. Exceptionally skilled teams of physicians, nurses and technicians provide state-of-the-art medicine in an environment that fosters hope and healing. Philanthropic donations help give patients the very best care by funding new equipment and technology, improving patient care areas, training our health care professionals and ensuring all our patients receive exceptional, compassionate health care. Our giving priorities are aligned with the strategic goals of SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital and SSM Health Oklahoma, ensuring that monies donated to the St. Anthony Foundation are used to support critical medical services. Our current giving priorities are: Area of Greatest Need: Funds support programs and services most needed to meet the healthcare needs of the communities we serve. Campus & Facility Development: Funds new construction and improvements for patient care areas. Cancer Care: Donations enable St. Anthony to continue its leadership in cancer care through the Frank C. Love Cancer Institute. The Tree of Life Fund provides comforts, medications and other assistance to cancer patients. Equipment and Technology: Funds help purchase new advanced equipment and technological innovations in specialized patient care to continue to provide the highest quality care. Cardiac Care: Donations enable St. Anthony's Heart and Vascular Institute to continue its leadership in cardiac and vascular care, including the acquisition of advanced technology and patient services. Orthopedics: Contributions enable SSM Health Bone & Joint Hospital at St. Anthony to continue its leadership in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of arthritic, orthopedic and spinal bone conditions. Behavioral Medicine: As the largest provider of mental health in the state of Oklahoma, we help patients from as young as four to elderly citizens. Donations support campus and hospital improvements, add new technology and equipment, support patient care areas, provide continuing education opportunities to medical staff and provide patient assistance such as our Care and Compassion Fund and the Sisters Fund that provides prescription medications to the needy. Recent accomplishments made possible with donations to the Foundation include but are not limited to: * Relocating and doubling the size and capacity of the Frank C. Love Cancer Institute. * Creating the S. K. and Mira Bhatia Heart and Vascular Unit * Adding furniture, furnishings and new playground equipment for our Behavioral Medicine Center to provide a more welcoming and healing environment for our children & adolescent patients. * Adding equipment for the Joyful Beginnings Neonatal Intensive Care nursery to care for more medically fragile babies. * Providing 5,260 prescription medications, as well as 1,489 clothing items for our patients who need a helping hand. * Supporting Orthopedic Research through the Bone & Joint Hospital Fund. * Assisting out-of-town families with housing while their loved ones are patients in the hospital through the Guest Services Fund. * Helping our children and adult patients facing the challenges of mental illness. Many of our children and adolescent patients come to us with little but the clothing on their backs. Donations buy shoes, clothing, provide dental and vision care, and add special training and educational sessions for both patients and their family members. Limited funds are provided to other nonprofit community organizations through event sponsorships. Each funding request is reviewed to determine benefit to the community and connection to Hospital goals. |
