| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: OPERATION SCHOOL BELL (1991)The Operation School Bell program dresses children from elementary schools designated Title I. These at-risk children are identified by school personnel as having inadequate or inappropriate clothing for attending school. Each child selects sets of new school clothes, a pair of shoes, jacket, socks, underwear, personal care kit, school supplies and books. School uniforms are provided for two school districts with uniform requirements. In 2019 2020, 5,193 students and their families were impacted by and member volunteers contributed 4,937 hours in support of this program. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: CAPS (CAPS ART PROMOTES SMILES) (1998)The CAPS program provides uniquely decorated ball caps to chronically ill children and adults. Through this program, blankets are also distributed to patients undergoing chemotherapy. In 2019 2020, 1,561 recipients (1,350 caps and 211 blankets) were impacted by and member volunteers contributed 1,842 hours in support of this program. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (2004)The Scholarship program awards scholarships to qualified students attending colleges and universities in Bexar County and GED support for those participating in the Bexar County Early Intervention Program. In 2019 2020, seven recipients were impacted by this and member volunteers contributed 97 hours in support of this program. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: ADOPT A RESIDENT (2004)The Adopt A Resident program serves senior adults through companionship, friendship and by providing personal care items at a local nursing home. In 2019 2020, 591 residents and their families were impacted by and member volunteers contributed 545 hours in support of this program. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: ENHANCED LEARNING AWARDS (2014)The Enhanced Learning Awards program provides supplemental materials and/or programs for Title 1 schools that enrich elementary students' education. In 2019 2020, 3,490 students were impacted by and member volunteers contributed 190 hours in support of this program. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 9: BEXAR HUGS PROGRAMSAlamo Bears The Alamo Bears program of the Bexar Hugs Auxiliary provides stuffed bears to the Bexar County Sheriffs Office Criminal Investigation Division to distribute to the children who are in need of comfort due to family issues. In 2019-2020, 450 children were impacted by this program and member volunteers contributed 13 hours in support of this program.Alamo Totes provides duffel bags filled with personal care items and toys to children in the ChildSafe and SAMMinistries shelters. In 2019-2020, 300 children and their families were impacted by and member volunteers contributed 15 hours in support of this program. |
