What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Advocate for Idaho family physicians, educate members on health policy issues and provide continuing education, promote the understanding of our specialty as the foundation of a higher performing health system, and facilitate student interest and recruitment of family physicians to Idaho.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Conducted a statewide continuing medical education conference open to all members of the organization with 72 attendees participating in the meeting. Provided one American Board of Family Medicine Continuing Knowledge Self-Assessment Module session to assist members with their Board re-certification requirements (15 members completed the session). Promoted physician workforce development in Idaho through programs designed for premedical students, medical students and Family Medicine Residents. Organize a program to match primary care physicians with premedical students in order to fulfill medical school shadowing requirements (Premed Shadow Program). Provide assistance, resources and funding for medical student training programs designed to recruit medical students to rural Family Medicine careers in Idaho; facilitated by the University of Washington, School of Medicine. Provide career counseling by discussing job prospects in Idaho; and provide guidance, strategies and resources to the majority of second year Family Medicine residents when they are seeking a practice opportunities after residency. 29 The IAFP maintains a Web site with information regarding upcoming events, legislative policy issues, practice opportunities, resources, educational opportunities, and leadership opportunities. The organization has a Facebook page with the intention of informing members of newsworthy commentary on political and clinical issues. The IAFP holds a gathering for Family Medicine physicians, medical students and residents to unite them with state legislators during the legislative session. The IAFP advocates for policies, procedures and standards supporting family physicians, through state and national policymakers. The organization works with healthcare partners on committees and commissions to advance health policy priorities to promote better healthcare for all Americans. The IAFP conducts a yearly continuing medical education program and annual all member meeting for student, resident and active members of the IAFP and AAFP with 61 registered attendees and 41 exhibitors in attendance. The IAFP provides a quarterly newsletter, for all members of the organization, to explain impending changes in rules and regulations and distribute essential state and national news and resource updates.
