    Earlier this year, I contacted my accountants and they discovered that the 2018 form 990-PF had not been filed. Information to complete the return was gathered and the Foundation's return for 2018 was prepared. Regarding the function of the Foundation, in 2017, 2018 and 2019 charitable contributions of $451,908, $374,000 and $412,000, respectively were made. I am the trustee for two additional trusts and perhaps due to my inexperience in dealing with these issues is the reason that the return wasn't completed and filed. Prior to my tenure as Trustee of this trust my brother was Trustee and I took over in 2016 after his death. Prior years returns had not been filed but I was able to get all of them filed in 2017 but, unfortunately, the 2018 Trust return was missed. Having to deal with the Coronavirus this year also hindered getting this return completed.Additionally, after my brothers death, I had to assume responsibility of my mothers estate and file additional trust returns and deal with my brothers estate and his widow. Dealing with these issues caused a substantial amount of distraction and stress. There was no willful attempt to not file this non-profit return and I respectfully request that the late filing penalty be abated.
