Form 990-EZ, Part III, Section A, Line 28	In furtherance of these goals, the Society holds one annual scientific meeting each year. That meeting is free for members to attend. In 2019, that Annual Meeting was held on April 27 and 28, 2019, at the Scottsdale Hilton Resort, and 150 attended 139 physicians 121 physicians 12 resident physicians 6 physician faculty, 11 non-physicians 7 med students 2 non-physician faculty 1 non-physician spouse and 1 other behavioral health provider and obtained up to 6.25 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits of continuing medical education on April 27, 2019 through joint providership with the APA and/or 3.0 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits of continuing medical education relating to opioids on April 28, 2019 through the Rockpointe Corporation, Opioid Analgesics Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy REMS, a symposium approved for CME, MOC, MACRA, AAFP, and ACPE credit hours, and supported by an educational grant between the Society and Rockpointe Corporation the Sunday session had approximately 75 in attendance. The event also provided an opportunity for both physicians and psychiatric residents or medical students to poster present and be juried by the meeting attendees. There were 8 posters presented at the Annual Meeting.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Section A, Line 29	In 2019, key legislative issues included HB2075, signed into law to allow extension of the e-prescribing mandate through next 2020 legislation to protect and preserve KidsCare funding three Bills to provide expanded housing and support to homeless, families, youth, and the seriously mental ill opposing anti-vaccination legislation graduate medical education funding in the State of Arizona from AHCCCS and Kratom products prohibition. The Society remains engaged on behalf of its members on potential scope of practice issues. In 2019, HB2068 sought prescribing authority for Clinical Nurse Specialists, within a defined health care facility and within the protocols prescribed by the facility. The Society stood opposed to this legislation.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Section A, Line 30	This was organized by The JEM Foundation and the Arizona Council of Human Service Providers, together with the Neighborhood Council, MIKID, Mental Health America of Arizona, and the Arizona Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The APA Director of Legislation, Tim Clement, also supported these efforts to draft parity enforcement legislation for Arizona, which moved forward in the 2020 legislative session. As member events, the Arizona Psychiatric Society offered risk management education dinners, Minimizing Risk When Treating Suicidal and Violent Patients, in each of Phoenix and Tucson on February 5 and 7, 2019, respectively. A total of 44 participants attended from both, with 41 being physicians. Through the support of the APA expedited grant program, this meeting was offered at a substantially reduced fee. The Womens Group in Psychiatry held its 3rd Annual Afternoon Tea at Arcadia Farms in March of 2019, sponsored American Professional Agency, Inc. and Meadows Behavioral Healthcare. The Womens Group has approximately 150 members in its interest group and the events were attended by approximately 45 of those members. The Society made informational visits to each residency program office in the calendar year to present on benefits of membership and grassroots advocacy. Throughout the year, the Society worked to communicate with its members through its quarterly Newsletter, distributed only electronically, and also through periodic electronic e-mail alerts.
Form 990-EZ, Part V, Section A, Line 34	At its Annual Meeting on April 27, 2019, the Arizona Psychiatric Society adopted amended and restated Bylaws, the major revisions of which change the second Arizona Assembly Representative from being the current President-Elect serving a simultaneous one-year term, to having the second Assembly Representatives elected for Arizona, with the two Assembly Representatives serving in rotating two-year terms. In compiling the changes to reflect that recommendation, the Council also recommended some other clean-up changes to wording within the Bylaws.
