	The Annual Meeting provides a forum for the exchange of technical information related to the practice of pediatric surgery, to promote research in the field of pediatric surgery, and to present the most current developments in the field of pediatric surgery to its members. The Annual Meeting also provides an opportunity for members to obtain CME credits for attendance.

	Publications educate members, the public, patients, and those in related fields in areas such as field advancements, techniques and services, and availability and access to resources and pediatric surgeons. Publications provide an education for patients and families in areas of support and healthier living, allow for access to exams, etc. that will result in CME credits.The information is emailed throughout the year to approximately 1,400 members. The website consists of one section aimed at pediatric surgeons and other professionals and a second section dedicated to pediatric patients and their families.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 3	The Association utilizes the services of a management firm, Kellen Company. Management fees represent amounts paid to Kellen Company under the terms of an agreement for management services, office space, equipment, and other resources. The staff at The Kellen Company also offer advice to the Board of Governors. However, these staff members do not hold a voting position on the APSA Board, nor on any APSA committees. Total management fees paid to Kellen Company for the year ended December 31, 2019 was $663,128.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6	Regular Membership - Must meet education and practice qualifications to be accepted. May vote and hold office. Candidate Members - Must meet education and practice qualifications to be accepted. May not vote or hold office, but may be appointed to serve on committees by the President as consultant member for up to two years. Charter Member - Members joining on April 15, 1970. Honorary Members - Offered by unanimous vote of Board of Governors and announced to the membership attending the annual business meeting. Not eligible to vote or hold office. International Members - Must meet education and practice qualifications to be accepted. May vote but will not be eligible to hold office. Associate Members - Must meet education and practice qualifications to be accepted. May vote but may not hold office. Resident Members - Must be a general surgery resident in an ACGME approved program. The term of membership will be for one year and will automatically expire unless an extension is applied for and approved.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7a	Regular, International, and Associate members may vote to elect the officers and the Board of Governors. These positions shall be elected by written ballot sent with oversight by the Nominating Committee to the membership prior to the annual meeting and the nominee for each office obtaining the majority vote shall be elected.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7b	Any exception for membership must have the majority approval of the Board of Governors and an affirmative vote by two thirds of the voting membership at an annual meeting/business meeting. Honorary membership may be conferred upon a physician for outstanding contributions to pediatric surgery by unanimous vote of the Board of Governors and announced to the membership attending the annual/business meeting. Regarding Board of Governors' decision on disciplinary matters, upon request for appeal, the membership present shall confirm or refute the recommendation of the Board of Governors by simple written majority vote. This vote shall be considered binding and final.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b	The Form 990 is reviewed by the Association's Controller and Executive Director. It is also sent to the Association's Treasurer and then to the full Board after the Treasurer has completed his or her review.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c	APSA currently has no financial relationship with any officers, trustees or committee members. Said person are called on to liberally disclose the possibility of any such interest at which point the remaining non-interested members of the Board of Governors would be called on to discuss and vote on the matter at hand. The disclosure of a conflict of interest does not need to be in writing.
