28 A. HOPE RANCH PROVIDED FREE 90 MINUTES SESSIONS FOR SEVERAL SURVIVORS OF SEX TRAFFICKING, INDIVIDUAL WOMEN AND GIRLS THAT WERE STRUGGLING WITH DEPRESSION AND LOSS. THE MAJOR SOURCE OF OUR SERVICE FOR THE YEAR WAS COMMITTED TO WORKING WITH BIG BROTHER BIG SISTER OF UTAH. WE WERE BOOKED NEARLY EVERY FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND SATURDAY FROM MARCH 9-OCTOBER 12 2019. THESE WERE FREE 90 MINUTE SESSIONS FOR THE BIG BROTHERS AND BIG SISTERS WITH THEIR LITTLES. WE PARTNERED EACH VOLUNTEER & THEIR LITTLE WITH 2 OF OUR VOLUNTEERS AND 2 HORSES. EACH BIG & THEIR LITTLE LEARNED TO GROOM THE HORSE, THE BASICS OF HANDLING THE HORSE AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO RIDE. MANY OF THE BBBS VOLUNTEERS AND THEIR LITTLES RETURNED MONTHLY TO ADVANCE IN THEIR SKILLS AND DEVELOP POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE VOLUNTEERS AND HORSES AT HOPE RANCH. THE HEART OF OUR SESSION PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE A SAFE PLACE FOR CHILDREN, HORSES AND FAMILIES TO EXPERIENCE HOPE, HEALING AND ENCOURAGEMENT. IN EACH SESSION, THROUGH A MYRIAD OF METHODS, THERE IS ONE MAIN PURPOSE-TO MENTOR THE INDIVIDUAL THROUGH THE LOVE OF JESUS. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY INVITING ALL TO COME JUST AS THEY ARE. THE LEADERS OF HOPE RANCH WORK HARD TO PAIR OUR PARTICIPANTS WITH AN ACTIVITY OR HORSE THAT WILL ENCOURAGE THEM FORWARD TOWARD HOPE AND PERSONAL GROWTH. ALL ACTIVITIES ARE CHOSEN AT THE DISCRETION OF EACH INDIVIDUAL LEADER. SOME OF THESE SESSION ACTIVITIES INCLUDE WORKING WITH/RIDING HORSES, CHORES, AND LIFE SKILLS. WITH THE GOAL OF RELATIONAL INVESTMENT IN MIND, THE LEADERS OF HOPE RANCH USE A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS RIDING HORSES, GAMES, CHORES, ETC. TO BUILD AN INTENTIONAL ONE-ON-ONE RELATIONSHIP WITH EACH PERSON. EACH LEADER WORKS TO TAILOR EACH SESSION TO MEET THE NEEDS AND DESIRES OF EACH INDIVIDUAL AND TO ENCOURAGE THEM FORWARD TOWARD HOPE AND PERSONAL GROWTH. B. HOPE RANCH ALSO HOSTED 2 STUDENTS FROM GERMANY FOR 3-6 WEEKS DURING THE SUMMER. THESE GIRLS STAYED AT THE RANCH AND VOLUNTEERED WITH EVERY HOPE RANCH EVENT. THESE GIRLS MAJOR PURPOSE IN STAYING AT HOPE RANCH WAS TO LEARN HOW TO SERVE THOSE IN NEED THROUGH INTERACTION WITH HORSES, RANCH WORK AND POSITIVE MENTORING. THEY ALSO LEARNED NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP (WHICH IS BASED ON LOVE, LANGUAGE AND LEADERSHIP RATHER THAN FEAR, MECHANICS AND INTIMIDATION) TO ILLUSTRATE REAL LIFE LESSONS. THEY ALSO LEARNED AND PARTICIPATED IN THE RANCH WORK REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN AND OPERATE A HORSE RANCH. C. HOPE RANCH HOSTED "UNICORN BIRTHDAY PARTIES" FOR LITTLE GIRLS AND OTHER THEME PARTIES. D. WE TOOK OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS & HORSES TO ST. GEORGE IN APRIL FOR A WEEK OF HORSEMANSHIP AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING. E. HOPE RANCH RESCUED AN ABUSED AND STARVED 11 YEAR OLD PALOMINO FOX TROTTER MARE. OUR TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS LEARNED MUCH ABOUT FACING FEARS AND WORKING THROUGH THEM RATHER RUNNING OR HIDING AS WE WORKED WITH THE MARE TO GAIN HER TRUST AND HELP HER OVERCOME FEAR. WE HAD A FEW AMAZING MONTHS WITH HER AND THEN SHE SUDDENLY DIED. WE ALL LEARNED TO FOCUS ON WHAT WAS AMAZING ABOUT THE BRIEF TIME WITH HER AND NOT TO GET SUCKED INTO SADNESS AND DEPRESSION. THESE LIFE LESSONS OF ALWAYS BEING GRATEFUL AND FOCUSING ON THE GOOD ENABLE ONE TO MATURE AND BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS IN EVERY AREA OF LIFE. F. OUR HOPE RANCH TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS, BOARD MEMBERS AND MANY PARTICIPANTS PULLED TOGETHER AS WE HAD TO SAY GOODBYE TO ONE OF OUR LONG TIME, TRUSTED FRIENDS. OUR 22 YEAR OLD BLACK AND WHITE PAINT MARE NAMED BUBBLES HAD TO BE EUTHANIZED DUE TO SEVERE ARTHRITIS IN HER KNEES. BUBBLES WAS LOVED BY SO MANY LITTLE GIRLS AND ONE OF THE LIFE LESSONS EVERYONE LEARNED WAS TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THE ONE WE LOVE NO MATTER HOW DIFFICULT IT IS FOR US. FOR SOME, IT WAS THE FIRST DEATH THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED AND WE WERE ABLE TO LOVE AND SUPPORT THEM AND HELP THEM GROW THROUGH LOSS.

Facts And Circumstances Test
1.170A-9(E)(3)(II) ATTRACTION OF PUBLIC SUPPORT - MISSION & UNIQUENESS: WE USE OUR HORSES TO TRANSFORM LIVES; IMPARTING HOPE, LOVE & PURPOSE TO INDIVIDUALS AS WE ASSIST THEM IN THE DISCOVERY AND USE OF THEIR GOD-GIVEN TALENTS AND ABILITIES. WE ARE A FAITH BASED ORGANIZATION THAT ALLOWS PEOPLE FROM ALL DENOMINATIONS AND BACKGROUNDS TO HAVE A PLACE WHERE THEY CAN FIND A MEANINGFUL, DEEP CONNECTION WITH HORSES & GOD AND DEVELOP LASTING FRIENDSHIPS. WE ENCOURAGE THEM TO RISE ABOVE THE TRAGEDIES OF LIFE AND FIND WAYS TO USE THEIR ABILITIES TO SERVE SOCIETY. THOSE WHO LEARN TO SERVE DO NOT DOUBT THEIR PLACE IN THE WORLD. - HISTORY: HOPE RANCH HAS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASSIST THE COMMUNITY IN MANY FORMS. VISITORS FOR FREE HORSE RIDES HAVE INCLUDED CHILDREN AND THEIR ADVOCATES FROM UTAH COUNTY CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER; COPPER HILLS CORRECTIONAL FACILITY FOR TEENS; BIG BROTHERS & BIG SISTERS OF UTAH; AS WELL AS YOUTH GROUPS FROM ALL DENOMINATIONS IN THE SALT LAKE VALLEY. HRM HAS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MENTOR MANY INDIVIDUAL WOMEN THAT WERE STRUGGLING WITH LACK OF PURPOSE AND A FEELING OF HOPELESSNESS DUE TO THE RECENT LOSS OF A SPOUSE FROM DEATH, DIVORCE OR ABUSE, THE LOSS OF A CHILD TO DRUGS, ALCOHOL AND EVEN PRISON. -THE FIRST STUDENT HRM WAS PRIVILEGED TO MENTOR WAS A 19 YEAR OLD AUTISTIC GIRL, LAURA, WHOSE PARENTS BELIEVED COULD EXCEL IN MORE THAN JUST WASHING DISHES AND WINDOWS. SHE BECAME QUITE COMPETENT WITH HORSES, ENOUGH TO GO ON TRAIL RIDES AND ATTEND THE GIRLS HORSE CAMP WE DO ANNUALLY. SHE ALSO DESPERATELY WANTED TO OWN A HORSE WHICH WAS NOT IN HER FAMILY'S ABILITY SO HOPE RANCH LET HER "ADOPT" ONE OF OUR HORSES FOR 35.00 A MONTH. LAURA WAS CONSIDERED HIS OWNER UNTIL HE PASSED AWAY. -IN 2011 HRM BEGAN A PROGRAM WITH OAKLY SCHOOL IN WHICH STUDENTS AND CLINICAL STAFF VISITED HOPE RANCH EVERY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY FOR 5-7 WEEK MODULES WHERE THEY LEARNED THE BASICS OF NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP AND ASSISTED WITH WORK PROJECTS AT THE RANCH. THE STUDENTS GREW IN CONFIDENCE, NOT ONLY WITH HORSES BUT WITH HOPE FOR THEIR FUTURES. - OVERALL PROJECT GOALS AND EXPECTED IMPACT OF HOPE RANCH MINISTRIES PROJECT GOALS INCLUDE: TO PROVIDE A POSITIVE, SAFE AND STRUCTURED EQUESTRIAN ENVIRONMENT FOR INNER-CITY TEENS AND ADULTS (MOSTLY WOMEN AND GIRLS BUT NOT EXCLUSIVE TO) PARTICULARLY THOSE IN CRISIS, INCLUDING VICTIMS OF ABUSE, PERSONAL TRAGEDY, FEELINGS OF HOPELESSNESS, TERMINALLY ILL, AND DISADVANTAGED THROUGH INTERACTION WITH HORSES, RANCH WORK AND POSITIVE MENTORING. WE TEACH NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP (WHICH IS BASED ON LOVE, LANGUAGE AND LEADERSHIP RATHER THAN FEAR, MECHANICS AND INTIMIDATION) TO ILLUSTRATE REAL LIFE LESSONS. WE PROVIDE FREE HORSEBACK RIDES FOR INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS FROM VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS GIVING THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE THE PEACE THAT NATURE AND HORSES BRING. THEY LEARN SAFETY WITH THE HORSES & EXPERIENCE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONNECT WITH HORSES AND POSITIVE ROLE MODELS. "WE EXPECT OUR PROGRAM TO GIVE INDIVIDUALS HOPE AND EMPOWER THEM TO LET GO OF THEIR PAIN, FORGIVE AND TURN FROM THE VICTIM MENTALITY OF BLAME AND SELF PITY TO PRESSING ON TOWARDS THEIR DREAMS & RISING ABOVE THE ADVERSITY OF THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES. -THE "O" IN HOPE RANCH IS FOR OBEDIENCE, MANY PEOPLE ARE DOWN AND OUT BECAUSE THEY ARE SUFFERING THE CONSEQUENCES OF REBELLION. REBELLION LEADS TO ALL KINDS OF DYSFUNCTION WHETHER IT'S AT WORK, SCHOOL, TOWARDS PARENTS, A SPOUSE, GOD, THE LAW OR ANY OTHER GOVERNING AUTHORITY. REBELLION IN A HORSE LEADS TO A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND WE USE THE HORSES TO ILLUSTRATE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE DIRECTION OF ONE'S LIFE WHEN CHOOSING WISDOM IN OBEDIENCE VS REBELLION. WE ALSO TEACH SKILLS IN RECOGNIZING "SAFE PEOPLE AND SAFE HORSES", TRUST IS EARNED BUT RESPECT IS THE WAY WE TREAT ALL PEOPLE AND ANIMALS, REGARDLESS OF HOW THEY TREAT US. HOPE RANCH IS ABOUT HELPING PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU THAT DETERMINES YOUR DESTINY; IT'S WHAT YOU DO ABOUT IT THAT REALLY COUNTS. WE SEEK TO HELP OTHERS REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL AND TO BECOME GREAT LEADERS IN THEIR HOMES, SCHOOL, COMMUNITIES AND WORK PLACES. THE HORSES ALLOW US TO TEACH REAL LIFE LESSONS AND BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEOPLE SO WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO INFLUENCE THEM POSITIVELY AND GIVE THEM REASONS TO HAVE HOPE. -AMERICA HAS SEEN A RISE IN TEEN SUICIDE, BULLYING, DIVORCE, ANTI- DEPRESSANT AND DRUG ABUSE, TEEN PREGNANCY, ADDICTIONS OF MANY KINDS AND JUVENILE DELINQUENCY. WHILE WE DON'T CLAIM TO BE ABLE TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS AND WE ARE NOT A REHAB CENTER, WE DO PROVIDE A PLACE OF HOPE, HEALING AND ACCEPTANCE. NO MATTER THE STRUGGLE, WE EMBRACE EACH INDIVIDUAL FOR WHO THEY ARE AND PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR THEM TO GROW AND DISCOVER THEIR OWN TALENTS AND ABILITIES. WE HELP PEOPLE FOCUS ON THEIR DREAMS NOT THEIR DISAPPOINTMENTS. -HOPE RANCH HAS NOT CONDUCTED ACTIVITIES WHICH SERVE THE PRIVATE OR PERSONAL INTERESTS OF ITS FOUNDER OR RELATED PARTIES. -THE ORGANIZATION SOLICITS DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORTING ITS PROGRAMS, THROUGH ITS WEBSITE, THROUGH AMAZON SMILE, LOCAL GROCERY STORES, AND THROUGH FLYERS POSTED IN LOCAL CHURCHES AND BUSINESSES. 1.170A-9(E)(III) PERCENTAGE OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT. THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED 24.80% OF ITS SUPPORT FROM PUBLIC SOURCES FROM 2015 TO 2019. 1.170A-9(E)(3)(IV) SOURCES OF SUPPORT. THE ORGANIZATION HAS RECEIVED ITS SUPPORT FROM INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES, AND FOUNDATIONS NOT RELATED TO THE ORGANIZATION THROUGH EITHER BUSINESS OR FAMILY RELATIONS. IN ADDITION TO DIRECT DONATIONS, MANY INDIVIDUALS HAVE DONATED TIME AND SERVICES TO ASSIST THE ORGANIZATION IN ITS EXEMPT PURPOSE. 1.170A-9(E)(3)(V) REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNING BODY -THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS DOES NOT REPRESENT THE PERSONAL OR PRIVATE INTERESTS OF A LIMITED NUMBER OF DONORS OR RELATED PERSONS -ALL BOARD MEMBERS SERVE WITHOUT COMPENSATION -HOPE RANCH BOARD MEMBERS MEET AT LEAST QUARTERLY TO DIRECT THE ORGANIZATION'S OPERATIONS. 1.170A-9(E)(3)(VI) AVAILABILITY OF PUBLIC FACILITIES OR SERVICES; PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN PROGRAMS OR POLICIES. (A) THE FACT THAT AN ORGANIZATION IS THE TYPE WHICH GENERALLY PROVIDES FACILITIES OR SERVICES DIRECTLY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC...WILL BE CONSIDERED EVIDENCE THAT SUCH ORGANIZATION IS "PUBLICLY SUPPORTED." -HOPE RANCH LEADERS ATTEND THE CONTINUING EDUCATION CLINICS AT CRYSTAL PEAKS YOUTH RANCH. -HOPE RANCH IS A MEMBER OF CRYSTAL PEAK'S YOUTH RANCH'S "SIMILAR MINISTRY NETWORK," WHICH CONNECTS INQUIRIES TO THE STATE IN WHICH THEY LIVE TO CONTACT A HORSE RANCH MINISTRY THAT CAN SERVE THEM. - HOPE RANCH HOSTS A FACEBOOK PAGE AND WEBSITE TO ENCOURAGE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF ITS SERVICES. IT ALSO DIRECTLY REACHES OUT TO OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND CHURCHES TO OFFER SERVICES AND ADVERTISES ITS SERVICES THROUGH FLYERS POSTED IN LOCAL CHURCHES, BUSINESSES, AND FARM STORES. - HOPE RANCH IS AVAILABLE FOR SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC 9-NOON MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY, MOST OF THE DAY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY APRIL-MID OCTOBER (DEPENDING ON WEATHER CONDITIONS.) ALL SESSIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. THE WINTER MONTHS OCTOBER-MARCH OUR MAIN VOLUNTEERS AND LEADERS INVEST 3-8 HOURS WEEKLY TRAINING AND PREPARING OUR HORSES FOR SUMMER SERVICE. 1.170A-9(E)(3)(VII) ADDITIONAL FACTORS PERTINENT TO MEMBERSHIP. THE ORGANIZATION IS NOT A MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION. TESTIMONIALS TESTIMONIAL 1 WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK HOPE MINISTRIES FOR INVITING US TO BEAR RIVER CAMP. PSALMS 133:1 SAYS "BEHOLD, HOW GOOD AND HOW PLEASANT IT IS FOR BRETHREN TO DWELL TOGETHER IN UNITY" WHEN ALL OF GOD'S PEOPLE CAN COME TOGETHER AND WORSHIP AND PRAISE GOD WE CAN BREAKDOWN ALL NEGATIVE BARRIERS. WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK HOPE RANCH MINISTRIES FOR A GREAT TIME IN THE LORD AND THE NEW FRIENDSHIP IN CHRIST JESUS. THIS FELLOWSHIP HAD SUCH A GREAT IMPACT ON OUR CHURCH AS WELL AS OUR YOUTH GROUP. I AM ALSO GRATEFUL FOR THE EXPERIENCE MY DAUGHTERS HAD RIDING HORSES FOR THE FIRST TIME AND GETTING OVER THEIR FEARS OF THE UNKNOWN. MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AND APPRECIATED. TESTIMNIAL 2 CYLA IS A FOSTER CARE CHILD WHICH WAS BROUGHT TO HOPE RANCH FOR WEEKLY SESSIONS. WHEN CYLA CAME TO HOPE RANCH SHE WAS VERY INTIMIDATED BY THE HORSES AND NERVOUS. HER SELF ESTEEM WAS VERY LOW AND SHE DID NOT SEE HERSELF RIDING ANY OF THE HORSES AT ALL. AFTER A FEW BASIC TRAINING SESSIONS, CYLA BEGAN TO OPEN UP WHILE GETTING USED TO THE ANIMALS. CYLA ALSO LEARNED THE BASICS OF GETTING TO KNOW HER HORSE WHICH MEANT A HORSE CHOOSING HER AS A RIDER. THIS SHOWS THAT THE HORSE IS COMFORTABLE WITH ITS RIDER AND IT ESTABLISHES TRUST. THIS WAY CYLA ALSO LEARNS HOW TO TRUST AN ANIMAL THAT THAT CAN BE VERY INTIMIDATING AND IN HER TRAINING SHE HAS MASTERED THAT. SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE PR

I PERSONALLY ENJOYED MEETING NEW PEOPLE THAT LOVE THE LORD AND RIDING HORSES IS A GREAT WAY TO OPEN UP THE COMMUNICATION LINE TO GET TO KNOW YOUR FELLOW CHRISTIANS. I AM GLAD TO BE IN A COVENANT RELATIONSHIP WITH HOPE RANCH MINISTRIES WHERE EACH ONE CAN REACH ONE AND EACH ONE CAN TEACH ONE.

FORM 990-EZ, PART III TO TRANSFORM LIVES BY GIVING HOPE, LOVE, AND STRENGTH TO THE HEARTS OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND HORSES.
FORM 990-EZ, PART III, LINE 28 A.
