The Association elected to freeze the pension plan as of April 30, 2009, at which time no more plan participants were added. Effective June 1, 2018, the Association elected to terminate the pension plan. On September 13, 2018, to facilitate the termination of the pension plan, the Association contributed $1,830,426 to the pension plan to fully fund the payment of lump sum benefits and to annuitize future benefit payment obligations of the Plan. The termination of the pension plan was completed on September 26, 2018 at which time a settlement loss of $3,903,364 was recognized. Prior to termination, current contributions were intended to provide not only for benefits attributed to date but also for those expected to be earned in the future. |
