Relationship of Activities to the Accomplishment of Exempt Purposes

3	The primary purposes of the organization are: (1) to provide funds to needy minor members of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), USAF Auxiliary, enabling them to participate in various USAF sponsored programs and encampments, and also to give all minor members of the CAP, hands on exposure to the use of aircraft, thereby encouraging them to pursue a career in military aviation; (2) to engage in search and rescue missions at the request of the USAF by providing the necessary pilots, aircraft and mechanical support personnel and (3) to participate in over water safety surveillance flights over Lake Michigan at the request of the US Coast Guard, To fund these activities, the organization relies on outright grants from other organizations, individuals and the occasional rental of aircraft. The organization does not hold itself out to the public for this purpose. The only reason aircraft are rented is to offset some of the fixed expenses in owning the aircraft used in its charitable activities.
