Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 28 Education/Ag in the Classroom - 12,500 The Company contracted with Cedar County Extension to deliver STEM-based programming to school districts in Cedar County. Elementary students were reached through prepared lessons about numerous agriculture commodities. Area day care programs were included in summer activities to teach about agriculture production. The scholarship committee reviewed applications and awarded four scholarships for post-secondary education.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 29 Agricultural Promotion - 2,500 The Company promoted agriculture to its members and the general public in various ways. Many of the planned activities were altered by COVID restrictions. The county fair did not happen as planned, but the Company still sponsored awards to local youth at the virtual fair and a special beef show. The Company sponsored print advertising throughout the year in two local publications promoting commodities and agriculture events. A young farmer event involving many members was planned but had to be cancelled.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 30 Public Policy - 1,113 The Company was influential for public policy affecting their members. The Policy Implementation Committee met with their State Senator and Representative prior to the start of the session to advocate for agriculture. The Company took part in forming state-wide policy by raising local issues, distributing opinionnaires to members and crafting policy statements reflecting the views of its members. They invited legislators and Supervisors to virtually attend meetings to discuss policy issues
