Explanation:
Due to COVID, we noted the extended due date to 6/15/2021. Since we are now required to file electronically, we were working on the filing to be completed by 6/15/2021. Our learning curve on the electronic filing was more involved than anticipated and we were unable to complete the filing by 6/15/2021. We submitted the automatic extension form 8868 electronically on 6/15/2021; but it was rejected. At this point, we logically concluded that the rejection was due to the electronic system date not being adjusted to 6/15/2021. Since the electronic system indicated mailing was an option, we mailed the form 8868 the same day. We have not received an answer as yet. We believe our actions were reasonable under the unique circumstances of the COVID pandemic.
