| FORM 990-EZ, PART III | THE PRIMARY MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO CONNECT HOPELESS PEOPLE TO GOD AND TO FORM A COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT BY PROVIDING HUMANITARIAN SERVICES THAT ADDRESS IMMEDIATE AND LONG-TERM NEEDS IN THE AREAS OF HUNGER, POVERTY, GANG INVOLVEMENT, EDUCATION, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. ADDITIONALLY, THROUGH CHRISTIAN TEACHING AND DISCIPLESHIP WE ARE BUILDING A GROUP OF RESILIENT PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN REDEEMED BY GOD'S LOVE AND WHO NOW DESIRE TO BE AGENTS OF CHANGE IN THEIR OWN SPHERE OF INFLUENCE |
| FORM 990-EZ, PART III, LINE 28 | THE ORGANIZATION BEGAN THE YEAR WITH GREAT ANTICIPATION. HOWEVER, LIKE SO MANY OTHER NONPROFITS THEY HAD TO ADAPT THEIR PLANS VERY QUICKLY BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC. TYPICALLY, THE ORGANIZATION WOULD BE HOSTING VARIOUS TEAMS TO COME AND ASSIST WITH THEIR PROGRAMS BUT THE NATION AND THE DREAM CENTER PLANS WERE PLACED ON HOLD AS THE COUNTRY OF HONDURAS WENT INTO LOCK DOWN EARLY IN 2020. IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY OF THE YEAR, THE DREAM CENTER VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF WORKED WITH EACH FAMILY IN THEIR PROGRAM TO GUARANTEE THE CONTINUATION OF EACH CHILD'S EDUCATION. THEY WERE ABLE TO REGISTER 200 STUDENTS IN LOCAL SCHOOLS. EACH OF THE 200 KIDS IN THE PROGRAM RECEIVED A HOT LUNCH SERVED 5 DAYS A WEEK IN THE CAFETERIA. THEY PLANNED AND EXECUTED A GIVE AWAY PROGRAM WITH BACKPACKS AND ALL THE NECESSARY SCHOOL SUPPLIES IMPACTING AROUND 200 STUDENTS. THEY PROVIDED ON LOCATION SUPPORT WITH HOMEWORK, TUTORING, INTERNET ACCESS, PRINTING, AND ANY NEEDED SUPPLIES. EVEN THROUGH THE LOCKDOWN, THE DREAM CENTER STAFF CONTINUED TO COMMUNICATE WITH STUDENTS VIA PHONE CALLS AND CHATS TO ASSIST THEM IN THEIR EDUCATION WHICH HAD NOW MOVED ONLINE. THE DREAM CENTER CELEBRATED 45 HIGHER ACHIEVERS WHO FINISHED THIS DIFFICULT SCHOOL YEAR WORKING FROM CELLPHONES AT HOME AND WERE ABLE TO MAKE THE HONOR ROLL. IN ADDITION, ALL ENROLLED STUDENTS PASSED THEIR GRADE SOON AFTER, AS THE PANDEMIC BEGAN AND THE INTENSE NATIONWIDE CURFEW WAS PUT INTO PLACE,THE DREAM CENTER WAS FORCED TO TEMPORARILY PUT ALL ON- LOCATION ACTIVITIES ON HOLD WHICH INCLUDED THEIR CAFETERIA, ALL AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND ANY IN-PERSON ACTIVITY WHICH ALSO LIMITED ANY MISSIONS TEAMS HOSTING OPPORTUNITIES. INSTEAD, THE PRINCIPALS OF THE ORGANIZATION FOCUSED ON MAKING SURE THEIR LOCAL STAFF CONTINUED TO BE RESOURCED BY SECURING SALARIES AND BAGS OF FOOD. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO CERTAIN FAMILIES AT RISK OF BEING EVICTED FROM THEIR HOMES AND AS WELL PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT TO HOSPITAL STAFF WITHIN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION, THE STAFF AND VOLUNTEER TEAMS OF THE DREAM CENTER DISTRIBUTED BAGS OF FOOD TO AN ESTIMATED 3,000 FAMILIES. THE ORGANZATIONS FOOD PROGRAM WHICH ALSO WAS ASSISTED BY LOCAL GENERAL DONATIONS OF FOOD HELPED FULFILL A GREAT NEED FOR FOOD IN THE COMMUNITY. THIS PROGRAM WAS A LIFELINE TO THE COMMUNITY AS LONG LINES WOULD FORM DAILY WITH THOSE IN NEED SINCE THE QUARANTINE LEFT MANY FAMILIES WITHOUT A LOT OF HOPE AS MANY HAD NO INCOME DURING THIS TIME. IN NOVEMBER THE NATION FACED TWO CONSECUTIVE MAJOR HURRICANES. WHILE STILL REELING FROM THE PANDEMIC THE VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF BEGAN ASSISTING LOCAL FAMILIES WITH SHORING UP THEIR ROOFS AND MAKING OTHER REPAIRS ON ALREADY INADEQUATE HOUSING IN THE POVERTY STRICKEN AREAS THE DREAM CENTER SERVES. IN CONJUNCTION WITH A LOCAL AGENCY THE DREAM CENTER PROVIDED RESCUE TO FAMILIES NEEDING EVACUATION BY BOAT FROM AREAS THAT FULLY FLOODED. THE FACILITIES OF THE DREAM CENTER BECAME AN EMERGENCY CENTER PROVIDING SHELTER, FOOD, AND LOGISTICS TO DISTRIBUTE LOCAL DONATIONS OF FOOD, MEDICATIONS, AND SUPPLIES TO THOSE AFFECTED BY THE HURRICANES ETA AND IOTA. THE DREAM CENTER CAFETERIA TRANSITIONED TO COOK HOT MEALS FOR THOSE IN HURRICANE SHELTERS AND THE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS FACILITATED THE DELIVERIES. WITH ALL THAT TRANSPIRED IN 2020, THE ORGANIZATION CLOSED THE YEAR CELEBRATING THE HUGE IMPACT THEY WERE ABLE TO HAVE EVEN AMIDST BURDENSOME CIRCUMSTANCES. THE MASSIVE PIVOT THEY HAD TO TAKE BECAUSE OF THE WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC AND TWO MAJOR NATURAL DISASTERS PROVED TO IMPACT THE COMMUNITY THEY SERVE IN AN EVEN GREATER WAY IT BROUGHT THE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS CLOSER TOGETHER AS A TEAM AND IT CONSOLIDATED THE IMAGE OF THE DREAM CENTER IN THE COMMUNITY AS A PLACE OF HOPE. THE ORGANIZATION HAS PLANS AS GORVERNMENT RESTRICTIONS ALLOW TO BEGIN THEIR OPERATIONS IN FULL SWING IN THE COMING YEAR AND ANTICIPATES OPERATING THEIR PROGRAMS AT GREATER AND GREATER CAPACITY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THEY WILL OPEN UP THEIR DOORS AGAIN TO HOSTING TEAMS, ALLOWING INTERNS AND EXPAND MORE ON THEIR CURRENT PROGRAMS THAT HELP PROVIDE SUCH DESPERATE ASSISTANCE THROUGHOUT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY FACILITATING AND IMPACTING FAMLIES. |
