| Client Note 1 | Client Note 1 - FORM 199 PART II LINE 9:CONTRIBUTIONS AND GRANTS $51,092. |
| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: SCHOLARSHIPS - Assistance League Glendale awarded eight $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors or continuing college students. The scholarships are based on community service, school leadership and grade-point average. Recipients are publicized through our website and local newspapers. Usually, recipients are honored at a June award luncheon; but because of Covid-19 restrictions, the luncheon was cancelled. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Adopt A Family - Through the Adopt a Family program the Assisteens auxiliary of Assistance League Glendale provided families from the YWCA Battered Women's Shelter with Christmas gifts and credit cards so they could choose what they needed to have a better holiday - from food to clothes or gifts. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: ASCENCIA SHELTER FOR THE HOMELESS - Usually, members of Las Caritas and Assisteens, auxiliaries of Assistance League Glendale, provide dinners and weekend breakfasts for about 1,350 residents/year at the homeless shelter in Glendale. It is a guest-chef program that allows groups to prepare food brought to the shelter and serve it to the changing population of 40 to 50 residents. Because of the Covid-19 restrictions our members contributed meals, but did not serve them. The shelter's staff and residents took over that task. Assistance League Glendale provides appropriate clothing for the job interviews when residents are in transition out of the shelter. Assistance League provides gifts for the children in the shelter during the holiday season and also supplies hygiene kits for about 100 residents seeking assistance from the shelter. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM - Assistance League Glendale's Thrift Store provides the venue three mornings/week for vocational training for 9 young adults with physical and mental disabilities under the tutelage of the staff of the Tierra del Sol Foundation. The students develop confidence as they learn various skills needed to work in a retail store, including how to move merchandise, sort and hang clothing, arrange clothing on racks, move stock to display shelves, and purge oldmerchandize from the racks. Students also have the opportunity to increase their social skills and self-esteem while interacting with volunteers from Assistance League in a congenial and safe environment. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the students were absent from March 2020 to February 2021. They returned in March 2021. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 9: GUSD Healthy Start Food Bank - Assistance League Glendale provided monthly donations of up to $250 of food delivered to the GUSD Healthy Start food bank for 300 needy families who selected items they need for their own households. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 10: COMMUNITY OUTREACH - One of the Assisteens started a program called crafts for love in which the girls learned to knit, crochet or sew. They made 65 blankets, 3 hats, 231 ear bands, & 35 scarves and sewed 54 pillowcases and 286 masks which were given to the residents of the YMCA battered women's shelter or the white memorial hospital. |
