Other	Part III, Line 28 - Ag Education - The Allamakee County Farm Bureau strongly supports Agricultural Education and has worked diligently to provide educational resources to our local school districts. Our mission is to improve agriculture literacy and to make students and teachers aware of the importance of agriculture to our local economy and way of life. We were unable to conduct Agriculture In The Classroom (AITC) activities in the schools this year. Instead we offered Ag Literacy kits. We asked people to sign up for the age-related activity they needed, and a different kit was mailed each month during the summer of 2020. We also had other individual activities available on our Facebook page and in the Spokesman.
Other	Part III, Line 29 - Agricultural Promotions - The Allamakee County Farm Bureau promotes the consumption of beef, dairy and pork products. This is promoted through donations of these products to our local food shelf and county relief office during the promotion months but was limited during 2020. Also, some of our board members have recorded radio ads for a more personal message. The ads contained the topics about pork, beef, Livestock Works, and the importance of farmers and passing farms to the next generation. We feel it is important to form a positive connection between farmers, Farm Bureau, and the non-farm public.
Other	Part III, Line 30 - Policy Development - Allamakee County Farm Bureau met with state and national legislators on the phone for town halls to discuss issues of importance and issues affecting agriculture. In February, they met with the County Supervisors and County Engineer to discuss issues affecting members and the community. The county Farm Bureau developed an opinionnaire to distribute to members seeking their input on local as well as national issues of importance. The opinionnaire was sent by email and could also be picked up at the county Farm Bureau office. At the June meeting all members were invited to provide input to the resolutions that were proposed by the Policy Development Committee. The resolutions were later passed by the Board of Directors.
