    Summary of Direct Charitable Activities
    List the foundation’s four largest direct charitable activities during the tax year. Include relevant statistical information such as the number of organizations and other beneficiaries served, conferences convened, research papers produced, etc. Expenses
    1 Friends of Kowak FOK works in partnership with several private as well as public schools in Northwest Tanzania to provide financial support so the schools can offer education opportunity to indigent students. School administrators & other community leaders identify students and assess financial need. FOK managers & volunteers have substantial involvement in administering the financial aid monitoring performance & mentoring & maintaining continuing communication with the students. 8,690
    2 Through local volunteers and Staff of Kowak Schools and Kowak Hospital FOK occasionally provides direct financial assistance to indigent individuals or families. The need usually involving health education or living expense is identified and referred to FOK by such volunteers staff or community leaders in the Kowak region. 2,764
    3 Friends of Kowak FOK partners with Kowak Hospital in the Village of Kowak to identify and help support indigent patients and their families. FOK volunteers communicate regularly with Hospital staff who identify needy patients. Because of Covid-19 restrictions U.S. volunteer involvement with the hospital staff has been conducted remotely. Tanzanian volunteers help to assure that grants to the Hospital or directly to indigent patients and their families are used for their intended purpose. 921
    4 Friends of Kowak FOK assists Kowak Hospital administrators and staff to identify equipment or infrastructure needs and to raise money for such needs. For example FOK purchased and delivered mosquito nets for the hospital through local volunteers. FOK board members served as volunteers in Kowak prior to forming FOK and continue substantial involvement with such projects. 590
