| THE DEPOT IS A PUBLIC TREASURE TO THE TOWN OF DAYTON, WASHINGTON. THE TRAIN DEPOT WAS DONATED TO THE ORGANIZATION ON MAY 23, 1975 BY THE UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD. THE DEPOT HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE SINCE 1880 AND IS THE OLDEST SURVIVING RAILROAD STATION IN WASHINGTON STATE. IT WAS LISTED ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES IN SEPTEMBER, 1974. AS A RESULT, THE DAYTON HISTORIC DEPOT SOCIETY ENJOYS STRONG PUBLIC SUPPORT. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 200 MEMBERS AT THIS TIME FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC WITH A BROAD, REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNING BODY. THE ORGANIZATION HOLDS EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO ATTRACT ADDITIONAL PUBLIC SUPPORT AND IS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE BOLDMAN 1934 CHEVROLET GRAND MASTER DELUXE PARTICIPATED IN THE CRUISE AROUND TOWN FOR ALL WHEELS WEEKEND. THE BOLDMAN HOSTED YOGA IN THE GARDEN ON TUESDAY EVENINGS AGAIN THIS PAST SUMMER. THE BOLDMAN HOUSE RE-OPENED TO VISITORS IN AUGUST. TOURS ARE SELF-GUIDED FOR THE TIME BEING, AND WE PUT TOGETHER A SELF-GUIDED TOUR BOOK FOR GUESTS. AMY PARTICIPATED IN TWO COURSES, AND AS A RESULT OF INFORMATION GAINED, THE MUSEUM WILL HAVE NEW PROCEDURES IN PLACE FOR PROTECTING AND HANDLING ITS COLLECTION. |

THE DEPOT'S WAITING ROOM EXHIBIT WAS ENTITLED, "GLADYS, DORIS, AND LELA,- AND TOLD THE STORY OF A VACATION GLADYS BOLDMAN TOOK WITH TWO FRIENDS TO SAN DIEGO IN 1935. WE HAVE USED THE TIME WHEN THE DEPOT WAS CLOSED TO CATCH UP ON THE BACKLOG OF DONATIONS THAT NEEDED TO BE ACCESSIONED. WE NOW HAVE RE-ORGANIZED THE ARCHIVES AND ADDED OVER 350 ITEMS TO OUR COLLECTION. EVENING AT THE DEPOT WAS A VIRTUAL EVENT AND AUCTION THIS YEAR. THANKS TO OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND SHELLIE'S SKILLS, IT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS. THE DEPOT CONVERTED AN UNUSED RESTROOM ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE DEPOT TO STORAGE SPACE. THE DEPOT HAS PUBLISHED A BROCHURE THAT PROVIDES DIRECTIONS TO ALL OF THE CEMETERIES OF COLUMBIA COUNTY. WE MUST SAY GOOD-BYE TO TWO BOARD MEMBERS: DENISE HOON AND JEFF MCCANN. WE ARE CERTAIN THAT THEY WILL CONTINUE TO CONTRIBUTE TO OUR COMMUNITY AND TO THE DEPOT IN OTHER WAYS. WE EXPRESS GRATITUDE TO OUR PRESIDENT MAURA TRAINOR.
