| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Project Produce is a nutrition education grant that provides schools funds for fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole ingredients used in scratch-cooked recipes. Food service staff, often with support from other school personnel, host tastings and food literacy events in the cafeteria in order to increase student exposure and acceptability of fresh fruits, vegetables, and new recipes. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Foothills Fresh - Chef Ann Foundation, in partnership with California nonprofit, Sierra Harvest is collaberating to assist 9 small, rural school districts in creating a food service model rooted in scratch cooking that will impact the health of thousands of children in western Nevada County and beyond. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Get Schools Cooking 2015/2016 (Previously known as SCHOOL FOOD SUPPORT INITIATIVE) began in 2015 when Chef Ann Foundation, Life Time Foundation, and Whole Kids Foundation joined forces to provide technical assistance grants to five school districts in 2015. Get Schools Cooking supports the selected school districts to provide individualized, technical support to assist them in sustainably moving from a highly processed to cook from scratch operation. Program goals include: assessing barriers and identifying recommended actions in five key areas of school food service: Food, Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, and Marketing; supporting districts in developing action plans that create the structured framework to achieve their strategic objectives; and providing system improvement grants that support the implementation of recommended actions and next steps. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: The School Food Institute gives school food service professionals and childhood nutrition advocates the in-depth training, operational skills, and strategic vision necessary to make school food fresh, healthy, and sustainable. Our engaging online courses also include real-world examples and assignments, with operational oversight and feedback from the Chef Ann Foundation team. This program specifically supports school professionals looking to transition school meal programs to scratch-cooked operations. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: MN School Food Initiative was a new project for hte state of Minnesota in 2017 whose objective is to provide the knowledge, skills, and resources schools need to elimiate Liftime Foundation's "Harmful Seven IngrediantsX and increase scratch cooking through a collaborative, regional workshop setting. The platform will be available to school districts nationally as an online form that will assess and compile inputted data to generate strategic recommendations based on CAFs five major operational categories (food, finance, facilities, human resources, and marketing) and will direct the user to the corresponding content and resources on The Lunch Box, allowing them to prioritize key areas for improvement. The application will track a districts progress annually based on data collection from their original assessment. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 15: Fellowship Planning- Chef Ann Foundation is launching a fellowship programregistered with the US Department of Labor that is designed for mid- to senior-levelschool nutrition staff. The fellowship will include collaborative and interactive hands-on experience, network building and mentorship, advanced educational courses,leadership training, and a capstone project that will provide fellows with the foundation to become transformative leaders for school food service programs. CAF will actively seek to recruit and elevate a diverse group of leaders from K-12 districts across the United States. The first cohort will launch in 2022. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 16: Scratchworks- Chef Ann Foundation is a partner in ScratchWorks, a collective ofschool food professionals and non-profit organizations launched in 2019 with fundingsupport from the Lifetime Foundation. ScratchWorks is committed to supporting schooldistricts in cooking school meals from scratch using whole, fresh ingredients thatprovide students with the nutrition they need for their educational success, health and wellbeing. ScratchWorks provides advocacy at the local, state, and Federal level and hosts an annual gathering for school food professionals.
