What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? THE MISSION/PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZING ALLIANCE (TOA) IS TO EDUCATE AND TRAIN BASED/CIVIC LEADERS FROM THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY, WHILE EMBRACING OTHER HISTORICALLY MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES (INCLUSIVE OF DIVERSE RACIAL, ETHNIC, GENDER, AND RELIGIOUS BACKGROUNDS)ON CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND PUBLIC POLICY ADVOCACY AS IT PERTAINS TO SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE. THROUGH TEAMS OF VOLUNTEERS FROM INDIVIDUAL PARTNERSHIPS, TOA SOLICITS THE CONCERNS OF THE PEOPLE THROUGH TOWN HALL MEETINGS, WORKSHOPS, AND COMMUNITY FORUMS IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY TO DETERMINE THE AGENDA FOR POLICY ISSUES. THROUGH FAITH AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, TOA WILL BUILD UPON AN ALREADY STRONG CONTINGENCY FOR SUCCESSFUL VOTER REGISTRATION, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, CLEAN ENERGY AND ADVANCING PUBLIC POLICIES.

28 THE ORGANIZING ALLIANCE2018 ACCOMPLISHMENTSThe Organizing Alliance (TOA) has worked with various grass root organizations in the State of Nevada leading up to and during the last two Nevadas State Legislation. TOA has worked with a coalition of grass root organization from January 1, 2018, through December 31, 2018. TOAs accomplishments included the following:-AB54 Energy Efficient Light Bulbs (Increase standards for light bulbs to save energy and reduce consumers power bills)-AB465 Expanded Solar Access (Allows more Nevadans to use clean energy for theirhomes, reducing rates for some low-income customers. Expands job training andplacement opportunities in solar industry).-SB254 Carbon Reduction Plan (Calls for state officials to inventory Nevadas carbonfootprint and determine what steps we can take to significantly lower our greenhouse gas emissions.-SB299 Electric School Bus Funding (Opens up funding for an electric school bus pilot program).-SB358 Renewable Portfolio Standard (Increase the states renewable portfolio standard (RPS) to require 50% clean energy by 2030 with a goal of 100% carbon-free energy by 2050.
