At The Family YMCA, no one is turned away due to an inability to pay. The number one reason people drown is that they do not know how to swim. The YMCA is making a difference in that statistic. The Family Y Aquatic Program includes: swim lessons, water safety programs, learn to swim programs with area school systems, lifeguard training, advanced instructional classes, lap swimming, water aerobics, masters swimming, private lessons, birthday parties, family swim, Hub Fins Swim Team, hosting area high school swim teams, swim time for special education classes from area schools, group home participation, scuba diving, Girl and Boy Scout usage, and training for military representatives. Some area churches conduct baptism in our pools. Character development; Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith is incorporated within all the above programs and you can see above how spirit, mind and body is also. All segments of the community utilize our pools at both locations. Aquatic staff also provides water safety programs within the schools. Those numbers do not include regular member usage. |

TEAM PARENTS HELP TO ASSIST THE TEAM IN NON-COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES. VOLUNTEER REFEREES PROVIDE LEADERSHIP AND DIRECTION DURING THE GAME TO ENSURE FAIRNESS AND SAFETY. CHEER MOMS ARE LADIES ASSISTING THE STAFF BY CONTACTING PARENTS AND IS A "GO TO" ADULT FOR PARTICIPANTS AND PARENTS DURING THE SPORTS SEASON. ALL SPORTS CAMP VOLUNTEER IS THE INDIVIDUAL ASSISTING THE STAFF IN FACILITATING A POSITIVE AND FUN EXPERIENCE DURING THE CAMP. ADVISORY COUNCIL: 8 VOLUNTEER ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBERS AT THE PETAL BRANCH WITH 120 COMBINED HOURS. THESE INDIVIDUALS REVIEW THE FINANCIAL POSITION, FACILITY NEEDS, AND OTHER BUSINESS PERTINENT TO THE BRANCH OPERATIONS. BOARD OF DIRECTORS: 24 VOLUNTEER BOARD MEMBERS WITH 275 COMBINED HOURS. THESE MEMBERS PROVIDED GUIDANCE ON FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, FACILITY MAINTENANCE, AND OTHER PERTINENT DETAILS ASSOCIATED WITH OPERATIONS OF THE ASSOCIATION. THESE MEMBERS HAVE VOTING RIGHTS AND ATTEND UP TO 4 BOARD MEETINGS PER YEAR IN ADDITION TO NUMEROUS COMMITTEE MEETINGS YEARLY. THEY ALSO ASSIST WITH CAMPAIGNS AND OTHER FUNDRAISERS. PROGRAMS: 225 SUMMER CAMP AND AFTERSCHOOL VOLUNTEERS WITH 400 COMBINED HOURS. THESE VOLUNTEERS SHARE THEIR MANY TALENTS WITH THE CHILDREN SUCH AS CRAFTS, READING AND ENTERTAINMENT. A LARGE PORTION OF THESE HOURS OCCUR WHEN VOLUNTEERS ASSIST CHILDREN AGES 5-12 WITH HOMEWORK PRIOR TO THE PARENTS PICKING THE CHILDREN UP IN THE EVENING. THESE VOLUNTEERS HELP PROVIDE CHILDREN WITH CONFIDENCE IN MANY ASPECTS. HUB FINS SWIM TEAM: 12 SWIM TEAM VOLUNTEERS WITH 20 COMBINED VOLUNTEER HOURS.
