What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE IS A FULL SERVICE MEMBER REPRESENTATION ORGANIZATION. WE ARE THE VOICE OF THOSE WHO DEDICATE THEIR LIVES TO PROTECTING AND SERVING OUR COMMUNITIES. WE ARE COMMITTED TO IMPROVING THE WORKING CONDITIONS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AND THE SAFETY OF THOSE WE SERVE THROUGH EDUCATION, LEGISLATION, INFORMATION, COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, AND EMPLOYEE REPRESENTATION.

28 The Colorado State Trooper Lodge 55 is a member of the Colorado Fraternal Order of Police. We in turn belong to the Fraternal Order of Police which is the world's largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, with more than 325,000 members in more than 2,100 lodges. We improve the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those we serve through education, legislation, information, and community involvement.

29 The Colorado state trooper lodge 55 provides defense coverage on behalf of participating members for administrative, civil and criminal actions. Duty-related legal defense protection is a necessity as the frequency and cost of allegations against peace officers continues to rise. The FOP provides a Legal Defense Plan that offers lodge members very affordable and comprehensive coverage.
