| PART III, LINES 4 A,B,C,D - STATEMENT OF PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS: | THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS EDUCATION FUND (LWVEF) WORKS TO REGISTER VOTERS, PROVIDE VOTERS WITH ELECTION INFORMATION THROUGH VOTER GUIDES AS WELL AS CANDIDATE FORUMS AND DEBATES, PROTECTS VOTERS' RIGHTS, AND MOBILIZE VOTERS. DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR, STRETCHING FROM JULY 2019 THROUGH JUNE 2020, LWVEF CONTRIBUTED TO REGISTERING 107,366 VOTERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. FOR THE EIGHTH YEAR IN A ROW, THE LEAGUE WAS THE LARGEST ON-THE-GROUND PARTNER OF NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY IN SEPTEMBER 2019, HOSTING MORE THAN 500 VOTER REGISTRATION EVENTS ON ONE DAY THAT CONTRIBUTED TO 473,725 NEW OR UPDATED REGISTRATIONS ON THE SINGLE DAY. LWVEF REGISTERED 38,352 NEW CITIZENS AT MORE THAN 980 NATURALIZATION CEREMONIES DURING THIS TIMEFRAME. THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ARRIVED IN THE SPRING OF 2020 WHEN LEAGUES WOULD NORMALLY BE REGISTERING THOUSANDS OF NEW VOTERS AT HIGH SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY COLLEGES. LEAGUES WORKED WITH HUNDREDS OF SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE VIRTUAL VOTER REGISTRATION OPPORTUNITIES TO STUDENTS, INCLUDING ONLINE PRESENTATIONS TO ELIGIBLE STUDENTS, VOTER REGISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENTS IN SCHOOL NEWSLETTERS, AND DIRECT OUTREACH TO STUDENTS AND TEACHERS. IN FEBRUARY 2020 THE LEAGUE TURNED 100 YEARS OLD AND CELEBRATED A CENTURY OF EMPOWERING VOTERS AND DEFENDING DEMOCRACY WITH A 'WOMEN POWER THE VOTE DAY OF ACTION.' 339 LEAGUES AROUND THE COUNTRY HOSTED 396 EVENTS, AND FOR MANY LEAGUES, PARTICIPATING IN THE DAY OF ACTION WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO CONNECT WITH VOTERS AHEAD OF PRIMARY ELECTIONS. LEAGUES HOSTED VOTER REGISTRATION EVENTS, EDUCATIONAL FORUMS, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS, AND COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS AT THEIR STATEHOUSES AND CITY COUNCILS, REACHING 103,223 PEOPLE ON ONE SINGLE DAY. THROUGHOUT THE 2020 PRIMARY SEASON, LEAGUE MEMBERS AND VOLUNTEERS HOSTED MORE THAN 850 EVENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, INCLUDING SETTING UP DRIVE-THRU VOTER REGISTRATION BOOTHS, HOSTING VIRTUAL PARTIES - INCLUDING BYOB - BRING YOUR OWN BALLOT, TEAMING UP WITH RESTAURANTS TO PUT VOTING INFORMATION INTO TAKE-OUT BAGS, WORKING WITH SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE VIRTUAL VOTER REGISTRATION PRESENTATIONS TO ELIGIBLE STUDENTS AND MAKE VOTER REGISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENTS OVER SCHOOL LOUDSPEAKERS, AND MORE. FOR THE 2020 PRIMARY SEASON LWVEF MADE MORE THAN 300,000 PRIMARY VOTER CONTACTS IN FOUR STATES (COLORADO, MAINE, TEXAS, AND VIRGINIA) IN THE LEAD-UP TO THE SUPER TUESDAY PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES ON MARCH 3, USING A COMBINATION OF POSTCARDS, PHONE BANKING AND CANVASSING AND INCLUDING SPANISH-LANGUAGE OUTREACH IN TEXAS. DURING THIS TIMEFRAME THAT COVERED THE 2019 NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION AND MOST OF THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY SEASON, LWVEF'S WORK TO EDUCATE VOTERS REACHED APPROXIMATELY 2.5 MILLION VOTERS ON VOTE411.ORG, THE LEAGUE'S EDUCATION WEBSITE OPERATED BY LWVEF. VOTE411 PROVIDES VOTERS WITH CUSTOMIZED INFORMATION ABOUT ELECTION DAY RESOURCES INCLUDING POLLING PLACE LOCATIONS AND HOURS OF OPERATION, EARLY OR ABSENTEE VOTING RULES, REGISTRATION DEADLINES, ID REQUIREMENTS AND MORE. LWVEF ALSO POPULATES THE SITE WITH CANDIDATE INFORMATION EVERY ELECTION CYCLE. LWVEF REACHED OUT TO 18,600 CANDIDATES AND PROVIDED INFORMATION ON 9,900 OF RACES AND BALLOT MEASURES FOR THE NOVEMBER 2019 GENERAL ELECTION. AS COVID-19 CONTINUED TO IMPACT THE PRIMARY CALENDAR, LWVEF CREATED A CORONAVIRUS-SPECIFIC PAGE ON VOTE411.ORG, WITH EVERYTHING VOTERS NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT ELECTION CHANGES - IN BOTH ENGLISH AND SPANISH. VOTE411 BECAME ONE OF THE MOST TRUSTED ELECTION SITES FOR VOTERS AROUND THE COUNTRY FOR THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ON ELECTION DAYS, POLLING LOCATIONS, AND CHANGING RULES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2020 PRIMARIES. |
