Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 28 EDUCATION Buchanan County Farm Burau provided local seniors with scholarships. Promoted hosted a virtual teacher workshop in the community to provide resources for teachers to teach about agriculture in their classrooms. We used our Agriculture in the Classroom Coordinator to reach out to local schools to offer kits and virtual lessons that meet Iowa Core Standards along with teaching agriculture.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 29 PUBLIC RELATIONS Promoted beef, dairy and pork industry with T-Bone Tuesday Dairy Windsor Wednesday promotions in the county with our local commodity groups. Purchase a billboard to remind drivers to be safe on the road around farm equipment. We helped support our local 4-H FFA by sponsoring trophies for the county fair. Sponsored local young farmers to attend the Iowa Farm Bureau Young Farmer Conference.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 30 POLICY DEVELOPMENT Co-sponsored the town hall meeting with Fayette and Clayton County Farm Bureau with our state legislators. Meet with Buchanan County legislators prior to legislative session. Members met with county board of supervisors and county engineer to discuss local issues such as county budget, property tax, mental health, roads bridges. Board members participated in Farm Bureau Day at the Capitol to discuss current issues with legislators.
