| Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 28 | Public relations 3000 The Lyon County Farm Bureau is a large supporter of the county fair. Through donations and participation, they help local FFA and 4H groups promote youth development in the county. These young people will be the future leaders of this county. The Board of Directors annually donate to the county food pantries to help the less fortunate in the county. They also provide scholarships to students wanting to further their education. The Board of Directors also support the schools in the county through the recognition program of sports teams. In 2020 the company presented balls and memorabilia to high schools in the county that qualified for the Iowa State Tournaments. |
| Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 29 | Public Relations 1452 The company values the members opinions on all issues affecting agriculture. Each fall we ask for member input on the topics the company should be working on. We then give all members the opportunity to view all issues brought up statewide and indicate which issues are a priority. In March of each year, we send out a survey asking members opinions on several issues that are most important to the members. Our Board of Directors use that information to come up with policy for the company. We present our policy at the companys annual meeting held in August. A delegate from the company then presents the issues at the state annual meeting. |
| Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 30 | Program Support Young Farmers 1000 Each year the company provides opportunity for the Young Farmer Members to develop their leadership and social skills in a variety of ways. We sponsored members to attend the State Young Farmer Conference in Des Moines. We usually provide activities at the county fair for Young Farmers to network and help with fair contests. We also encourage Young Farmers to be part of the company Board of Directors. Last year we added two new Young Farmers to the board. This gives them the opportunity to voice their opinions and develop as future leaders in the county. |
