This certification process serves as a "good housekeeping seal of approval" for medically integrated fitness facilities to help engender trust and the ability to obtain referrals from the local medical community for patients needing exercise prescription or treatment of their chronic diseases through exercise. Also began work on new professional fitness facility and medical fitness facility director credential.

They allow everyone to learn from each other and network with people and organizations dedicated to medical fitness. The Medical Fitness Institute is a program sponsored by the Medical Fitness Association focusing on a variety of topics that directly relate to health.
