| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4B | OUR COMMUNITY:ASSIST PROGRAM WAS ABLE TO DISTRIBUTE 5.3 MILLION TOTAL VALUE OF GOODS TO THOSE IN NEED BOTH LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY DESPITE THE SHUT DOWNS DUE TO COVID-19. THIS PROGRAM IS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH WORLD VISION WHERE A LARGE NATIONAL WAREHOUSE WHOLESALER DONATES ITEMS WHICH ARE DISTRIBUTED TO INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS CARING FOR THE HOMELESS, THE ELDERLY, SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND TRAFFICKING, CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTERS, LOW INCOME FAMILIES, FOSTER CHILDREN, ORPHANAGES AND FIRE VICTIMS, INCLUDING 68 FIRE VICTIM FAMILIES WHO RECEIVED 750,000 IN HOME GOODS TO START THEIR LIVES AGAIN. IN 2020, ITEMS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO THOSE IN NEED IN THE US, ROMANIA, NAMIBIA AND MALAWI. IN ADDITION, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH STEP UP IN CRISIS, OVER 1 MILLION UNITS OF PPE (PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT) WERE IMPORTED AND DISTRIBUTED TO FRONT LINE WORKERS LACKING PPE IN THE US IN 2020. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4C | OUR GLOBAL HEALTH:ASSIST PROGRAM RESPONDED SWIFTLY TO THE NEEDS CREATED BY THE PANDEMIC. SOME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE THE OXYGEN:ASSIST PROGRAM WHICH COMPLETED AN OXYGEN PSA (PRESSURE SWING ABSORPTION)PLANT IN NEJO, ETHIOPIA AND RAMPED UP ALL PSA PSA OXYGEN PRODUCTION PLANTS TO MAX PRODUCTION. IN 2020, 49,000+ PATIENTS WERE TREATED WITH OXYGEN FROM OUR PLANTS; 93 HOSPITALS WERE SERVED WITH ACCESS TO LIFE-SAVING OXYGEN AND 50,000+ LARGE CYLINDERS OF MEDICAL OXYGEN WERE DISTRIBUTED. 10,000+ HEALTHCARE AND BIOMEDICAL-TECHNICIAN LEARNERS ACCESSED OUR TELE-MENTORING SESSIONS, 890 EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE WORK ORDERS WERE COMPLETED BY OUR TEAMS IN ETHIOPIA, WHICH INCREASED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT UPTIME BY 23% DURING COVID-19 SURGES. ASSIST INTERNATIONAL'S OXYGEN:ASSIST PROGRAM AIMS TO SAVE LIVES BY GETTING OXYGEN INTO THE LUNGS OF PATIENS WHO NEED IT, AND IN THE PANDEMIC, OXYGEN WAS NEEDED MORE THAN EVER. OUR EXPERIENCE HAS TAUGHT US THAT SUPPLYING OXYGEN CONCENTRATORS OR PLANTS ALONE IS INSUFFICIENT TO IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES, AND THEREFORE, OUR FOCUS HAS BEEN ON HEALTH SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION, ACHIEVED BY OUR COMPREHENSIVE, 'ECOSYSTEM' MODEL OF MEDICAL OXYGEN PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION, AND TRAINING. BY ESTABLISHING LOCALLY OPERATED OXYGEN CENTERS THAT PROVIDE INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS TO EACH OF THE BARRIERS FACED IN RESOURCE-CONSTRAINED SETTINGS, THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN DRASTICALLY IMPROVING OXYGEN AVAILABILITY, STRENGTHENING HEALTH SYSTEMS, AND SAVING LIVES. IN ADDITION, OUR GLOBAL HEALTH:ASSIST PROGRAM IMPACTED 59 HEALTH FACILITIES THROUGH THE SAFE SURGERY PROGRAM (SS2020)IN 2020 ALONE. IN 2020, WE ALSO MOBILIZED A CONSORTIUM OF 15+ EXPERT ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS TO CREATE AN INNOVATIVE TELE-EDUCATION AND TELE-MENTORSHIP PORTFOLIO IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PROJECT ECHO AND STANFORD GLOBAL ANETHESIA. THIS PORTFOLIO HAS REACHED OVER 10,000 LEARNERS FROM 128 COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD WITH VIRTUAL TRAININGS RELATED TO CLINICAL AND TECHNICAL TOPICS ON COVID-19, OXYGEN THERAPY, AND CRITICAL CARE; AND TODAY, OUR TELE-MENTORING MODEL IS FEATURED IN THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION'S (WHO'S) "COMPENDIUM OF INNOVATIVE HEALTH TECHNOLOGIES FOR LOW RESOURCE SETTINGS". |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4D | SINCE BEGINNING IN 1990, ASSIST INTERNATIONAL HAS BEEN COMMITTED TO PROVIDING ORPHANED AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN WITH HOPE, HEALTH, AND OPPORTUNITY. THROUGH BUILDING ORPHAN VILLAGES AND ORPHAN VILLAGE PARTNERSHIPS, CHILDREN HAVE BEEN GIVEN FAMILIES, HEALTHCARE, AND EDUCATION IN ROMANIA, THAILAND, UGANDA, RWANDA, KENYA, AND MORE. IN 2020, ALL OF OUR ORPHAN VILLAGE PARTNERS WERE IN GREAT NEED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC AND DECREASED INCOME STREAMS. THANKFULLY, MOST CHILD SPONSORSHIPS CONTINUED AND WE CAME ALONGSIDE OUR ORPHAN VILLAGE PARTNERS WITH SUPPORT TO CONTINUE THE CHILDREN'S EDUCATION AND WITH INITIATIVES FOCUSED ON FARMING AND FOOD PRODUCTION. TWO FARMS WERE SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED WITH NEW CROPS PLANTED OVER 45 ACRES TO HELP WITH FOOD SCARCITY. BY THE END OF 2020, WE WERE ABLE TO SEE HARVESTS WHICH MADE A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT TO PROVIDE FOOD FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES, ORPHANS AND THOSE CARING FOR THE CHILDREN. |
