| FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A - PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS | HUMAN SERVICES - IN FY20, ACTS CONTINUED TO GROW ITS OPERATIONS AND OUTREACH TO INDIVIDUALS IN NEED INSPITE OF THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC. WE ARE VERY THANKFUL FOR OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, WHOSE GENEROSITY ALLOWED US TO PROVIDE $283,668 IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR 912 HOUSEHOLDS. WORKING WITH ALL LOCAL UTILITY COMPANIES, WE WERE ABLE TO KEEP THE LIGHTS LIT, WATER FLOWING, AND HEAT ON.PART OF ACTS MISSION IS TO CREATE A SENSE OF SELF-SUFFICIENCY WITH ALL OUR PROGRAMS. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE WITH THE EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WE OFFER OUR CLIENTS. OUR CASE MANAGERS WORK WITH THEM ON CREATING BUDGETS AND MANAGING THEIR EXPENSES, SO THAT NECESSITIES, SUCH AS FOOD (WHICH WE CAN PROVIDE FOR THEM), RENT, AND OTHERS COME FIRST. THIS YEAR WE PROVIDED 646,784 POUNDS OF FOOD TO 9,163 HOUSEHOLDS (A 21% INCREASE OVER LAST YEAR LARGELY DUE TO COVID). OUR NEW PRINCE WILLIAM FOOD RESCUE PROGRAM WAS LAUNCHED JUST IN TIME FOR THE PANDEMIC, ALLOWING US TO DISTRIBUTE AN ADDITIONAL 1,662,556 POUNDS OF FOOD TO OVER 50 COMMUNITY PARTNERS ALSO PROVIDING HUNGER RELIEF.WE PROVIDED EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR 160 HOUSEHOLDS BETWEEN OUR BEVERLY WARREN HOUSE AND OUR SAFE HOUSE. EVEN WITH COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE, WE WERE STILL ABLE TO ACHIEVE A 91.5% BED UTILIZATION AVERAGE BETWEEN SHELTERS. THIS YEAR OUR COMMUNITY EDUCATION EFFORTS WERE SEVERELY LIMITED DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF COVID-19. WHILE WE WERE ONLY ABLE TO OFFER TRAINING TO 4,711 INDIVIDUALS THIS PAST YEAR, WE FEEL THAT THOSE NUMBERS WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL ONCE WERE ABLE TO RESUME OUR REGULAR IN-PERSON TRAINING. ACTS WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO OVER 51,000 PEOPLE LAST YEAR (NOT INCLUDING COMMUNITY EDUCATION). WHEN THE PANDEMIC HIT, WE KNEW WE WOULD BE CALLED UPON TO PROVIDE EVER GREATER LEVELS OF SERVICE TO OUR NEIGHBORS. THE NUMBERS SEEN IN THIS YEAR WILL BE DWARFED BY OUR FY21 NUMBERS AS THE FULL IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC IS REALIZED AND ITS DURATION CONTINUES. |
