Pt VI, Line 11b	Policy:The Maryland Psychiatric Society Council will review the form 990 before it is filed.To ensure involvement in governance and fiscal oversight of the organization, Council is encouraged to ask questions and suggest revisions. Voting Council members are asked to sign that they had an opportunity to read it and provide input. Procedure:Each year, the MPS CPA will prepare Form 990 with assistance from MPS staff and MPS Executive Committee as needed.Each year, voting members of Council will be asked to review the completed form before it is filed with the Internal Revenue Service. The form will be circulated at least five days in advance of the March Council meeting electronically, on paper, or both.Council will be asked to review it and encouraged to ask questions and suggest revisions. Recommended changes, potential problems and concerns will be discussed at the March meeting and decisions will be made about which changes to include on the final form. Revisions will be incorporated into the form during March with assistance from MPS staff and MPS Executive Committee members as needed. The revised draft will be distributed at least five days in advance of the April meeting.At its April meeting, the Council will again be given an opportunity for questions and revisions. Once any concerns are resolved, the Council will vote to approve it. Voting Council members will be asked to sign that they had an opportunity to read it. The final 990 will be filed by the May 15 due date.
Pt VI, Line 12c	Each member of Council and committee chair must complete and return an initial or updated Disclosure of Interests form each year prior to the first meeting in which the individual will participate.The Secretary-Treasurer reviews all disclosure forms as they are received and, in consultation with the Executive Committee,determines an appropriate management plan, such as: (a) assure full disclosure to the Council and other individuals covered by this policy; (b) ask the individual to recuse from participation in related discussions or decisions within the MPS; or (c) ask the person to resign from his or her position. The Executive Director monitors proposed or ongoing transactions for conflicts of interest and discloses them to the President in order to deal with potential or actual conflicts, whether discovered before or after an action has occurred.
Pt VI, Line 19	MPS policy is that staff will respond to requests for governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements from members of the general public as follows Form 1023. The MPS did not have a copy of this tax-exempt application on July 15,1987 and its application was filed before then, so there is no requirement to disclose the Form 1023,Form 990, 990-EZ, & 990-T. The MPS will make its annual federal returns (Forms 990 and 990-T) available for public inspection without charge in its offices during regular business hours. Each return will be made available for a period of three years. The other documents will be provided subject to the following conditions; however the MPS will not provide copies of its constitution and bylaws, which are posted on the MPS website. The MPS will provide copies without charge, other than a reasonable fee for reproduction and actual postage costs, when required to be made available for public inspection to any individual who makes a request for the copy in timeliness of compliance. If the IRS determines that the MPS is the subject of a harassment campaign and that compliance with the requests that are part of the campaign would not be in the public interest, it is not required to fulfill a request for a copy that it reasonably believes is part of the campaign.

Pt III, Line 3	Two continuing medical education (CME) events were held virtually featuring noted specialists in psychiatry and experts in related fields. A movie event with accompanying lecture focused on the impact of gun violence on patients and communities was held in May. A joint meeting with the Southern Psychiatric Association was held in September and featured outstanding speakers presenting on timely topics. Physician attendees received CME credits, which are required for state licensure. Total attendance for both meetings = approximately 175.
Pt III, Line 3	Our annual meeting held virtually in October recognized the Poster Contest, Paper of the Year and the Lifetime of Service Award winners, as well as other member achievements. In addition, virtual committee meetings and virtual social gatherings gave members further opportunities for networking and peer support.
Pt VI, Line 8a	Government Relations During the 2020 Session over 2800 bills were introduced by Maryland legislators. MPS reviewed close to 100 bills, which is about 3% of all legislation introduced. The MPS supported 19 bills, opposed 12 bills, offered amendments on 7 bills and followed 11 others. MPS provided oral testimony three bills; on two scope of practice bills and the physician assisted suicide bill. For the first time since the Civil War, the Maryland General Assembly adjourned on March 18th, which was before its official end date due to the coronavirus. On MPS Advocacy Day in February, several MPS members met with members of the General Assembly to discuss legislative priorities. The MPS partnered with MedChi during the legislative session and discussed issues of mutual concern with psychologists and social workers. The MPS also worked with the administrative branch, both with the Department of Health and the Insurance Administration. Meetings with the Behavioral Health Administration continued in 2020. MPS staff participated Behavioral Health, Children's Behavioral Health, and Parity at 10 coalition meetings, which resulted in government relations initiatives, including advocacy on transformation of the public behavioral health system, comments on Insurance Administration regulatory proposals, and various letters of concern to the Secretary of Health and others.

Other	The MPS Membership Directory was published once and was mailed to all MPS members. Copies were also made available at events. Total distributed = 750. "MPS News" published 12 times and sent to all MPS members by email. Total distributed =8500. Each issue is also posted on the MPS website. "The Maryland Psychiatrist" was published twice. The Spring and Fall issues were emailed to members and were posted on the MPS website. Total distributed = 1500. All publications covered professional and organizational interests and benefited both patients and psychiatrists.
Other	Website The MPS website includes news and information for members and the public, as well as a Find a Psychiatrist search tool. In addition, members can update their profiles, pay dues and register for events online. The online membership directory requires a member login. MPS Social Media Accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn continue to facilitate members and the public staying connected with MPS and with each other. Posts include MPS happenings and Maryland behavioral health news. The telephone referral service connects callers with participating psychiatrists based on patient needs. MPS Interest Groups were established for ten areas to help members connect with other psychiatrists with similar interests. Most communication occurs over email. This is in addition to the general listserv for MPS members.Curbside Conversations is a collegial resource offered voluntarily to others in the MPS community. MPS members with in-depth knowledge in specific areas have informal chats with other members seeking that information.
