The League's Building Company may be subject to federal and state income taxes on any income that is unrelated to their exempt purposes. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 3 The building serves as the corporate headquarters for both members who own, manage and operate the property and building as an office building for their mutual use and benefit. The League of Minnesota Cities serves as the Building Company's property management company. Such services include responsibility for all financial activities including tax matters. Compensation paid to officers by the related organization is reported in Form 990, Part VII.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 The Building Company has two members, League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) and League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT).
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a LMC appoints two members, LMCIT appoints two members and the fifth member is the Executive Director of LMC (who is also a Trustee of LMCIT).
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b The institutional members have the ability to make decisions that bind the Building Company.
