This event benefits all students with disabilities in the district and their families and also the broader community. The event offers information and networking to families with children with disabilities. Grant #5, for $1,500 for CISD Elementary "Battle of the Books" benefitting all 3rd, 4t h and 5th graders from the 15 elementary campuses across the district. Students read diverse books, create questions, products and study groups and compete on teams at their campus. One team from each campus will compete at a District Battle of the books. Grant #6, for $1,024.95 for "Building our Future with First Lego League Robotics" benefitting the 4th and 5th grade students at Mary Harris as they design and build better places to live and work for everyone. Students work collaboratively to engineer a robot capable of meeting challenges involving real life environmental issues. Grant #7, for $884.06 for "The Box of Facts - Math Fun in a Flash". The Box of Facts will be used for all students at Jackie Carden Elementary grades k-5th grade. The Box of Facts connects visual experiences and supports the thought process through abstract equations and algorithms at all levels. Grant #8, for $259.45 is made to the program serving the students 1-5th grade at June Davis Elementary. This grant will help students with autism when their surrounding environments become overstimulating. Grant #9, for $1,000 is awarded to "Adult Transition Meal Preparation Training program". This training benefits special education students ages 18-22 who return after graduating from high school to the adult living program at North Crowley Highs school. This specific grant will provide resources for use in teaching students to safely prepare a meal for themselves. Grant #10, for $1,069.71 for the creation of the Crowley 9th Grade "Zen Den" which is a safe space where students can learn calming strategies, help students develop socially and emotionally and help students maintain focus when faced with challenging academic tasks. Grant #11, for $5,000 for "Coding/Stem Club" at David L. Walker Elementary serving the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at Walker. This program provides students with insights into the world of Coding. This program supplies certain middle school ELAR teacher with classroom libraries containing novels with diverse titles characters and/or authors to encourage students to read by choice. Grant #15, for $500 for "Linguascope for LOTE" which provides school-wide, yearlong Linguascope subscription to meet the needs of scholars who are acquiring a world language at North Crowley High School. Scholarship #2 for $1,000 to Reed Alexander attending Texas Tech University Scholarship. #3 for $1,000 to Guadalupe Melendez attending the University of Texas at Austin Scholarship. #4 for $1,000 to Grace Chang attending Tarrant County College Scholarship #5 for $1,000 to Pavel Pina attending the University of Texas at Arlington. $80 was refunded back to the foundation from a 2019 grant as it was not spent in 2019. |
