| Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 28 | Public Policy Humboldt County Farm Bureau Board of Directors met with the Humboldt County Supervisors, County Engineer, Sheriff and Auditor to review the proposed 2020-2021 budget and to lobby for additional funding for county rural roads/bridges. The county board of directors also lobbied our state legislators several times throughout the year at local town hall meetings and at the state capitol on such issues as allowing students at age 14.5 with drivers permits to drive a passenger vehicle for farm work, that mental health services should be entirely funded by the state of Iowa and continued support of funding for soil/water conservation practices through the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy program. |
| Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 29 | Agricultural Public Relation Events Humboldt County Farm Bureau donated money to help support/promote the Humboldt County Fair. To help celebrate Ag week during March 16-22, the county Farm Bureau ran ads in the local newspapers informing the general public about the number of jobs in the county that are related to the agricultural industry. They aired 15 Ag trivia questions on the local radio station. The first call-in respondent to correctly answer the multiple-choice question received a Caseys gift certificate. It is estimated that over 2000 listeners were influence by the advertising. The county Farm Bureau also partnered with three local grain cooperatives to install two trailer wraps on each of the cooperatives semi-trailers, each with a different theme to promote soil water conservation and how many jobs in the county are related to the agricultural industry. It is believed that these six trailer wraps are seen by over 3000 motorist each day. |
| Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 30 | Education/Ag in the Classroom Humboldt County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom Coordinator, Tracie Phillips, organized a Farm Days tour for pre-school - 4th grade students at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. Over 500 young students were presented exhibits relating to the beef, dairy, swine, sheep and poultry industry while other exhibits included navigating through a bailed hay maze, rope making techniques, etc. |
