The volunteers of the organization did their best to exercise normal business care and prudence and comply with all obligations. However, most of the volunteers also have full time jobs, many as farmers, and those jobs along with wellbeing were the priority. The organization uses Indiana Farm Bureau to prepare its tax returns, and reasonably relied on us to timely complete their returns. However, due to COVID 19 impacts, our firm had an oversight and the return was not filed on time because we were also affected by office shutdowns, staffing issues related to health and economy, and technology and communication issues. This organization is a volunteer organization. Any penalties assessed against the organization will take funds directly away from programs supporting the mission of the organization and may cause undue burden on a small not for profit organization.
