The 8 states that comprise the Southeastern Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation, Inc. (SBWEF) receive assessments collected from the cotton growers within their states by the respective state's department of agriculture. The state foundations remit these collections to the SBWEF when billed for them by SBWEF for the actual expenses incurred to eradicate the boll weevil or monitor post eradication in the cotton fields of each state. Approximately 283,000 acres of cotton in Missouri were monitored in CY 2020 by SBWEF, Inc.
