THE BOXES AND MEALS WERE CURATED BY HEALTH PROFESSIONALS WHO TOOK INTO ACCOUNT INDIVIDUALS' DIETARY RESTRICTIONS AND PROVIDED HEALTHY AND APPROPRIATE FOOD. THE PROGRAM'S WORK AND IMPACT WAS DOCUMENTED AND PUBLISHED IN THE HEALTH POLICY AND REVIEW JOURNAL. GIFT MART GIFT MART IS A PROGRAM IN DECEMBER OF EACH YEAR THAT ALLOWS FAMILIES TO SHOP FOR NEW AND LIKE NEW TOYS, CLOTHES, AND OTHER GIFTS FOR THEIR CHILDREN FOR CHRISTMAS. THESE ITEMS ARE DONATED BY COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND SET UP WHERE PARENTS OR GUARDIANS CAN SHOP FOR ANY CHILDREN IN THEIR HOME UNDER 21 AT REDUCED PRICES, ALLOWING THEM THE DIGNITY OF PURCHASING GIFTS FOR THEIR FAMILIES. IN 2020, GIFT MART SERVED OVER 400 FAMILIES, PROVIDING GIFTS TO WELL OVER 1,000 LOCAL CHILDREN. EDUCATION LOVE OUT LOUD SERVED AS A CONNECTOR OF INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS WANTING TO GIVE BACK TO REMOTE LEARNING SITES WITH COMMUNITY-BASED SITES. IN THE FALL OF 2020, WHEN THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT DECIDED TO REMAIN FULLY VIRTUAL, FAMILIES WERE STRUGGLING WITH WHERE THEIR CHILDREN COULD GO AND REMAIN SAFE AND FOCUSED DURING THE SCHOOL DAY. LOVE OUT LOUD HELPED CONNECT RESOURCES TO SEVERAL COMMUNITY-BASED SITES INCLUDING FUNDING, VOLUNTEERS, PARTNERS, AND SUPPLIES. PROJECT MASK LOVE OUT LOUD PROVIDED OPERATIONAL, ORGANIZATIONAL, AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A LOCAL, VOLUNTEER-LED, INFORMAL COLLECTIVE OF INDIVIDUALS WHO, THROUGH ENTIRELY DONATED TIME AND RESOURCES, CREATED AND SEWED OVER 120,000 MASKS FOR INDIVIDUALS IN OUR COMMUNITY. THE FIRST PRIORITY OF THESE MASKS WAS HEALTHCARE AND OTHER FRONT-LINE WORKERS, BUT EXPANDED TO STUDENTS, LONG-TERM FACILITIES, NONPROFITS, AND OTHER ESSENTIAL PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS. STUDENT CAMP ONE HUNDRED STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED 6TH THROUGH 12TH GRADES ATTEND A ONE-WEEK OVERNIGHT (OR DAY) CAMP EXPERIENCE AND ARE MOBILIZED IN THE WINSTON-SALEM AREA TO MAKE LASTING TRANSFORMATIONAL IMPACT ON THEIR CITY AND THEMSELVES. EACH DAY, STUDENT CAMP SENDS 15 TEAMS OUT INTO OUR CITY TO SERVE WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS, EAT MEALS TOGETHER AT CHURCHES HEARING MULTIPLE LOCAL EXPERTS ON TOPICS OF FOOD SECURITY, EDUCATIONAL EQUITY, HEALTH, HOUSING, AND EMPLOYMENT, AND THEN WORSHIPPING AS A COMMUNITY AT THE WINSTON SQUARE AMPHITHEATER DOWNTOWN.
