| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4A | SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS EARLY LEARNING CENTER, FORMERLY KNOWN AS RAINBOW DAYS THAT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1985, BECAME ITS OWN ENTITY IN JULY 2013. THE LEARNING IS CENTER BASED WITH TEACHER GUIDANCE, THEREBY ENCOURAGING SELF-DISCIPLINE, CURIOSITY, CREATIVITY, AND KNOWLEDGE MASTERY OF PRESCHOOL SKILLS. THE GOALS FOR OUR PRESCHOOL ARE THE CHILDREN TO LEAVE US WITH A LOVE AND CURIOSITY FOR LEARNING, CONFIDENCE IN THEIR SKILLS, AS WELL AS THE ABILITY TO SOCIALIZE AND FORM LASTING FRIENDSHIPS. OUR TEACHERS PLAN AND POST LESSONS EACH DAY. THESE PLANS INCLUDE A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES, AS WELL AS A SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY. MUSIC, LISTENING TO STORIES, DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS, SCIENCE, MATH, RELIGION, SPANISH, AND USING THE STEAM LAB (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ART, MATH), AND OUTDOOR FREE PLAY ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF EACH DAY. WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING CLOSELY WITH FAMILIES TO PROVIDE AN INTEGRATED, COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO LEARNING. WE BELIEVE IN GUIDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE ENTIRE FAMILY. WE ARE PROUD OF THE FACT THAT THE MAJORITY OF OUR FAMILIES ENROLL YEAR AFTER YEAR AND BRING ALONG OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS. THEY CONSTANTLY SHARE WITH OTHERS THEIR PLEASURE AND EXCITEMENT ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE PROGRAM. EDUCATIONALLY WE MEET THE NEEDS OF THE 2'S, 3'S, 4'S, AND 5'S BY USING PLAY ACTIVITIES TO TEACH IMPORTANT CONCEPTS. THE ENVIRONMENT IS PRINT-RICH TO ENHANCE THE LITERACY SKILLS AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT OF EACH CHILD.PUZZLES, SEQUENCING CARDS, AND OTHER MANIPULATIVES HELP TO DEVELOP IMPORTANT SKILLS THAT ARE PRECURSORS TO MAINSTREAM READING AND MATH SKILLS.WE HAVE A STEAM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ART, AND MATH) LAB IN OUR PROGRAM. THE GOAL FOR OUR LAB IS TO TEACH THE CHILD HIGHER THINKING SKILLS. SPANISH IS PART OF THE 3'S, 4'S, AND 5'S (KINDERGARTEN) CURRICULUM. IT IS TAUGHT THROUGH INTERACTIVE PLAY WITH MUSIC AND MOVEMENT. PURPOSEFULLY PLANNED LESSONS ARE PROVIDED TO GIVE THE CHILDREN THE OPPORTUNITY TO THINK,QUESTION, AND LEARN ABOUT THEIR ENVIRONMENT. WE USE THEMATIC LEARNING BOXES TO ENHANCE PRETEND PLAY IN THE CLASSROOM, AND TO ENRICH THE CHILDREN'S LANGUAGE SKILLS. LIFE SKILLS ARE A MAJOR COMPONENT OF THE CHILD'S DAY, AS THEY LEARN TO ACCOMPLISH AGE- APPROPRIATE TASKS THAT WILL OPEN THE DOOR TO INDEPENDENCE. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE OFFER VARIOUS PROGRAMS TO SPOTLIGHT THE LEARNING THE CHILDREN HAVE ACCOMPLISHED, SUCH AS OUR MUSIC AND OPEN HOUSE PROGRAM AND CELEBRATION OF LEARNING IN THE SPRING. OUR STAFF IS HIGHLY TRAINED IN ALL AREAS OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND AGE-APPROPRIATE PRACTICES FOR TEACHING YOUNG CHILDREN. THEY ENHANCE THEIR KNOWLEDGE EVERY YEAR BY ATTENDING NUMEROUS WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES TO STAY ABREAST OF CURRENT TRENDS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION. EACH CLASSROOM IS STAFFED WITH TWO ADULTS MAKING THE RATIO OF CHILDREN TO ADULTS IN THE CLASSROOM LESS THAN 7 TO 1 ADULT. THIS LEADS TO BETTER SUPERVISION AND ATTENTION TO SKILLS DEVELOPMENT. |
