All Hands Brigade AHB, a collaboration of seasoned volunteer organizers and activists with a dual mission to expand and protect voter participation in swing states and to bolster the capacity and leadership of local organizations to better advance progressive activism after November. AHB focused on three pivotal states -- North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The goal was to have a cohort of volunteer coaches/ mentors to bolster local leaders and staff, plus additional volunteers willing to reach out to voters via canvass and phone. Of course, Covid-19 would upend the original plans, but AHB took on the challenge with gusto. A total of 37 AHB volunteer coaches and 528 AHB callers/texters dug in to make every voice and vote count. In Wisconsin, AHB partnered primarily with For Our Future, a political action organization that includes labor and community partners. In North Carolina, AHB created projects with the North Carolina AFL-CIO and with the North Carolina Association of Educators NCAE-the North Carolina affiliate of the National Education Association. cont Sched O

Communities for Our Colleges is a WA State campaign to reverse the trend of declining public funding for community colleges and the resulting poor student completion rate. The campaign did outreach and engaged 300 plus students through direct meetings and webinars. The campaign worked to invest in the development of a core of 35 student leaders who in turn engaged over 1300 people through community events, small group meetings and webinars. With students at the core of its organizing, a broad coalition of students, faculty, labor, faith and racial equity organizations met 16 times during the year to advance the campaign goals. Together the coalition held 40 meetings averaging 13 participants where coalition stakeholders were able to educate elected officials about the problems students face and the investments necessary to address them. The coalition published a report What Students Need In a Time of COVID Community and Technical Colleges as the Path to Equity Recovery that included a summary of a statewide survey of students and 11 stories. cont Sched O

Native Vote Project focused on registering and engaging voters on the ground using canvassers, social media, influencers, and digital events. Through a combination of strong partnerships, virtual events two national Town Hall meetings, Zoom talent show and in-community, socially distanced events classic car parade on the Las Vegas Strip in NV, reservation car parades in WI, murals in SD and MN, for example we built excitement, engaged people and drew attention to the power of the Native vote. Our 100 coordinators and canvassers registered at least 7012 voters online, and 5140 at in-person events using safe social-distance practices. We reached an additional 4300 voters who signed pledge to vote forms online and at in-person events.

In each state, AHB combined voter participation activities with capacity building support, augmenting staff and leadership development and training and filling in gaps as needed This included a coaching/mentorship program, with each program tailored to the organizations needs. For canvassing volunteers, AHB organized on deck crews of callers and texters for each state to make sure that every voter is registered and every vote is safely cast and counted.

The coalition published a report What Students Need In a Time of COVID Community and Technical Colleges as the Path to Equity and Recovery that included a summary of a statewide survey of students and 11 stories that highlighted the need for full-time faculty to help coach, tutor and mentor students, addressing the specific equity needs on each campus and the development of localized action plans, increasing the diversity of the faculty, ensuring that students have needed access to wrap-around services, etc
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b 990 REVIEW PROCESS. The Finance Committee will review the draft 990, and then present it to the full Board for approval. If any changes are made during discussions, the final 990 will be emailed to all board members before filing.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY MONITORING. The conflict of interest policy covers officers, directors, members of committees of the board, and employees. Determinations of whether a conflict exists and the review of actual conflicts are made at the board level. If the board determines that a conflict exists, it shall follow these procedures. The interested person may make a presentation to the board, but will recuse themselves from any vote on the transaction involving the conflict. The board will investigate alternatives to the proposed arrangement. After exercising due diligence, the board shall determine whether the transaction is fair to the corporation. The transaction must be approved by a majority of a quorum of the board who have no direct or indirect interest in the transaction.
