Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 1 To create a vibrant future for agriculture, farm families their communities.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 28 Public Relations To promote local farmers the Winneshiek County Farm Bureau collaborated with the Iowa Food Hub to sponsor a special meal kit. The Food Hub sourced food from local farmers to put into the meal kit. The kits were a 50 value and Farm Bureau members were given the opportunity to purchase for 10. Kits were limited to 25 per week and was done for two weeks. We also hosted a drive through Harvest Supper, along with Winneshiek County Cattlemen with profits going to local food bank.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 29 Ag Education Created STEM kits to be given out to area students. Four kits were made up and dispersed during the summer as summer programming. There were two different age groups for each kit, a K-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade. In the AGtivity STEM kit there will be a book/magazine, an activity along with a couple extra worksheets to keep the students busy and learning at the same time. Held a Santa on the Farm event in cooperation with NE Iowa Dairy Foundation. Packets were given out to all the kids with dairy lessons and recipes. Included the Dairy Journey Lesson Final, Labeling Worksheets, and Game Dairy Farm2Table cards.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 30 Policy Development The Winneshiek County Farm Bureau met with state legislators to discuss issues of importance and issues affecting agriculture. They also met with the County Supervisors and county engineer to discuss issues affecting members and the community. The county Farm Bureau developed an opinionnaire survey for our members to acquire input on local state and national issues facing farmers. Once the results were collected, the issues were discussed, and once approved policy was adopted.
