| Other | Part III, Line 28 - Public Policy - JCFB was influential for public policy affecting their members. The Board of Directors met with State Senators and Representatives prior to the start of the session to advocate for agriculture. Leaders traveled to the Capitol in Des Moines in February to advocate for agriculture. The Organization took part in forming state-wide policy by raising local issues, distributing opinionnaires to members and crafting policy statements reflecting the views of its members. They scheduled weekend meetings during the legislative session which were attended by community members. Leaders participated in discussions with county officials about the building of a new jail facility and a new hospital facility, focusing on the effect to property taxes. |
| Other | Part III, Line 29 - Education and Ag in the Classroom - JCFB partnered with a neighboring county to share their paid AITC staff. Staff contacted schools in Jackson County to introduce ag-related lesson plans based on STEM. Before COVID, classroom appearances were in person. Delivery switched to virtual and delivered learning kits when COVID prevented classroom visits. The scholarship committee evaluated applications from high school graduates and awarded three scholarships for post-secondary education. |
| Other | Part III, Line 30 - Agricultural Promotion - JCFB promoted agriculture to its members and the general public in various ways. The Organization donated to the county fair, as well as agriculture-related speakers at meetings. Several other promotional activities were cancelled or postponed due to COVID 19. |
