WHILE OUR NUMBERS WERE DOWN IN 2020, WE WERE ABLE TO OFFER CLASSES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. DO TO THE COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS, WE WERE NOT ABLE TO SERVE STUDENTS IN THE LA PLATA COUNTY JAIL FROM MARCH OF 2020 UNTIL SPRING OF 2021. THIS IS REFLECTED IN OUR REDUCED NUMBERS OF STUDENTS AND GRADUATES. IN 2020, WE SERVED 323 STUDENTS IN OUR ADULT LITERACY PROGRAMS, HELPED 21 STUDENTS EARN A HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY DIPLOMA (GED). WE SERVED 70 STUDENTS FROM 18 COUNTRIES WITH ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSES. WITH A GREATLY REDUCED NUMBER ALLOWED IN OUR TESTING CENTER, WE WERE ABLE TO ADMINISTER 259 EXAMS, WITH SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS MADE FOR HEALTHCARE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES STAFF. THROUGH OUR GRANTING PARTNERS, 45,200 WAS DISTRIBUTED TO INDIVIDUALS SEEKING EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CERTIFICATES, TO HELP FILL MUCH NEEDED GAPS IN CHILDCARE, AND OVER 24,000 WAS AWARDED TO WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS. |
