What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? THE PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE AND MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO PROVIDE MUTUAL HELPFULNESS IN THE COMMUNITY BY MENTORING YOUTH, SPONSORING WHOLESOME PROGRAMS, ADVOCATING PATRIOTISM AND HONOR, PROMOTING STRONG NATIONAL SECURITY, AND CONTINUING DEVOTION TO OUR FELLOW SERVICEMEMBERS AND VETERANS.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 THE ORGANIZATION ACCOMPLISHED ITS MISSION BY HELPING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY THROUGH THEIR WE CARE CHILD SPONSORSHIPS AND ANNUAL ORATORICAL EVENT AT THE LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL; BY SPONSORING YOUTH TO ATTEND THE AMERICAN LEGION PALMETTO BOYS STATE PROGRAM; BY DONATING AND ASSISTING IN THE BURIAL ON UNCLAIMED VETERAN REMAINS; BY COLLECTING DONATIONS AND PARTICIPATING IN WREATH-LAYING CEREMONIES AT FORT JACKSON CEMETARY; BY HOSTING COMMANDER HOMECOMING EVENTS FOR VETERANS; AND BY RAISING MONEY FOR THE LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP FUND THROUGH THE LEGION RIDERS MOTOCYCLE RIDING EVENTS. SOME OF THESE EVENTS WERE ADJUSTED DURING THE YEAR DUE TO COVID-19.
