FORM 990-PF, PART IX-A FORM 990-PF, PART IX-A - SUMMARY OF DIRECT CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES Book Publishing: Every Gift Matters: During 2014, the Foundation produced the manuscript for "Every Gift Matters," a book written by Carrie Morgridge to illustrate the Morgridges' personal experience with philanthropy as a tool to guide others. Books began to be sold in 2015 and all profits go directly to the Every Gift Matters Fund, a fund dedicated to helping people to find their passion and change the world. Book Publishing: Spirit of the Trail: The Foundation produced the manuscript for the "Spirit of the Trail," a book written by Carrie Morgridge that uses Carrie and John Morgridge's experience while biking the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route to highlight concepts and personal traits that are of vital importance to the Foundation's philanthropic mission as a tool to guide others. Books began to be sold in 2018 and all proceeds from sales of the book are donated to the Adventure Cycling Association, a public charity, in support of the Foundation's enduring commitment to health and environmental conservation. Book Publishing: Courage Money: During 2020, the Foundation began researching its third book project. Courage Money will be a collection of stories submitted by public charities about how donor support has impacted them, allowed them to launch new organizations, new initiatives, etc. The Foundation hopes this work will help the larger foundation and philanthropic community transform and future-proof its current models. Morgridge Acceleration Program: Match emerging leaders with public charities. Participants collaborate with Mentors to work on a given challenge and create solutions. Philanthropy, Expert and Grantee Convenings: The Morgridge Family Foundation hosts regular and frequent gatherings - both scheduled and impromptu - among its peers in philanthropy, experts in the areas currently or potentially to be funded by the Foundation, and its grantees and potential grantees. These gatherings advance the Foundation's goal of maximizing its social impact by promoting collegiality and understanding, capturing and fostering the sharing of lessons, identifying and advancing collective impact opportunities and increasing overall efficiency and effectiveness in the sector. Book Distribution: The Foundation routinely purchases and distributes-at no charge-books about education reform and philanthropy to people in its local community; its partners in philanthropy; and attendees at Foundation-sponsored events or events at which Carrie Morgridge is speaking/lecturing. They include Zappos Culture Book; Delivering Happiness; One Room Schoolhouse; Cage Busting; Generosity Network; Good to Great; Flip Your Classroom; I Got Schooled; David and Goliath; Pencils for Promise; and others.
