| General explanation attachment | Part III Statement of Program Accomplishments:The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the creation, preservation and advancement of the arts. With funds generated through grassroots community support from individual donors, special event revenues, grants and collaborative business partnerships, SAACA provides diverse engagement opportunities for artists, organizations, businesses and individuals in the community through advocacy and artist resource programs. We accomplish our mission through the presentation of key programs, education and events. EVENTS & FESTIVALS: Creation and production of diverse arts centric community art, culinary, performing arts and visual arts-based festivals and events. ARIZONA BUSINESS COMMITTEE FOR THE ARTS (AZBCA): Develops creative partnerships between the arts and business communities that promote innovation in business development practices, developing our creative economy, and branding local commerce through creative connections to our arts and cultural communities. Sample programs include, community galleries, live music, film series, chalk art festivals and culinary events. CREATIVE AGING: partnering with hospitals, assisted living and memory care facilities to provide no-cost Arts based programs and cultural engagement experiences. ARTS EDUCATION: connecting hundreds of artists to the classroom with our collaborative Community Share partnership. ARTS & CULTURAL RESOURCE: SAACA publishes the Undercover Arts Magazine which provides over 1,200 local artists, arts organizations, creative industries & performing artists with a much-needed opportunity to promote and connect their work to the community. The organization also provides hundreds of opportunities for local artists to show their work through festivals, Open Studio Tours, community galleries and exhibition opportunities each year. CATALYST ARTS & MAKER SPACE: A 14,000 square foot community space that houses over 30 creative disciplines and education spaces, including robotics & engineering, teaching kitchen, community room, music & digital arts lab, performance space and arts & craft studio, with which over 50% of programs remain free to the public. Over the past 20 years, SAACA has created thousands of culturally diverse programs, festivals and events creating ever-changing dynamic opportunities for unique arts experiences in Southern Arizona and throughout the State. SAACA also collaborates with local arts and cultural organizations to effectively advocate for national, State and local funding mechanisms for the arts. DEMOGRAPHICS SERVEDIn the past fiscal year (2019-2020), SAACA directly supported more than 1,200 local artists, creatives and makers, providing them an opportunity to showcase their work in the community as well as participate in arts therapy and arts education programs. With over 190 annual events and programs in over 15 communities, SAACA produces programming and services in Oro Valley, Marana, throughout the City of Tucson, Pima County, Patagonia, and Sahuarita. Arts & Healthcare programs provided direct service to over 1,300 patients in 7 Senior Assisted Living Communities, as well as over 3,000 Veterans at the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration. Each of these programs impact diverse communities, from an array of socioeconomic backgrounds. Programming is balanced to provide access for all economic backgrounds, with approximately 60% of programs and events provided free to the public, and 40% which are ticketed, ranging in cost from $5-$125 ticket price. We engage free arts programming for over 2,500 youth, through community festivals and education partner programs. Business and Arts partnership programs engage over 1,400 employees through business galleries, employee arts-based teambuilding programs, and integrated arts experiences. Approximately 30% of our annual programming takes place in rural communities, designed to provide experiences in the arts in communities which do not have an existing arts and cultural organizations which can provide services in cultural programming. FISCALSAACAs annual budget is raised through a diverse funding structure which includes support from individual donors, special event revenues, grants, contract revenue and sponsorships from collaborative business partnerships, fundraising programs in partnership with local nonprofits, and Local Government support for programming. Revenue is invested directly back into our local community, in the form of new programming, expanded arts experiences, and piloted arts programs. The organization has diversified funding streams and in-kind opportunities by: (1) Expanding work in rural communities, and throughout the State. (2) Collaborating with non-arts sector organizations and non-profit partners to create innovative programs to address real-time community needs. SAACA collaborates with 8 nonprofit partners to present fundraising programs such as the Tucson Botanical Gardens, Local First Arizona, and the Community Food Bank (3) Strengthening the internal governance policies and procedures. (4) Expanding arts therapy, lifelong learning and youth-based arts programming. (5) Diversifying funding streams with a healthy balance of earned revenue, contract partnerships with both government and corporate partners, grant funding, and trade for services in-kind. The new SAACA CATALYST Arts & Maker Space at Tucson Mall (which opened in 2019) will provide additional diversity of funding opportunities, introducing class rental space, special events, and onsite programming. VOLUNTEERSEach year, more than 450 people contribute to the cultural vibrancy of this great region by donating their time to the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance. Men and women of different backgrounds, from high school students to retirees, help our organization meet its goal of bringing art into the lives of people throughout Southern Arizona communities. At SAACA, volunteer opportunities encompass a broad range of abilities and interests. Options include volunteer planning committees for arts festivals and culinary events, artist support, community outreach, program support, assisting with clerical duties, and facilitating event specific responsibilities. The work we create in this community would never be possible without the generous support our volunteers. We hold a full time Volunteer & Programs Coordinator, and the Executive Director and Management Staff, all play a key role in working with volunteers daily. |
