Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 28 Public Policy The Company is very active in their Policy Development and Policy Implementation activities. An opinionnaire is sent to approximately 150 members each year with issues dealing with local, state, and national issues. Proposed resolutions are formulated and presented at a board meeting and thoroughly debated and amended. Adopted resolutions are then supported by the voting delegate at the state policy conference. The Companys board and members then support local and state policy by contacting the representatives and lawmakers. The Company hosts Legislative forum meetings every month to stay in touch with lawmakers. The Company board members attend meetings held at the capital to support Farm Bureau Policy. The Company meets National representatives to discuss national issues at the regional board meeting.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 29 Ag Education The Company is a strong supporter of agricultural education. The Company has worked very hard at keeping agricultural education in the local schools. The Company holds a 3rd Grade field day for all third graders in the county which includes two school systems Clarke Community and Murray School and several home-schooled students. We invite local and state commodity groups to come to the fairgrounds to explain and demonstrate the different ways agriculture is a part of our everyday lives. The Company awarded two scholarships that totaled 600. The Company continues to work with the local FFA Chapters and 4-H Clubs to promote agriculture in the community.
Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 30 Public Relations FFA Chapters and 4-H Clubs help with this activity to bring a connection to community and agriculture. The Company hosted a Stroke Detection Plus screening for members and non-members at the county office. The Company hosts a community gardens area with 30 10 X 20 garden plots for people in the community without yard room to have a garden plot. With this we host a spring Open House with an invitation to all and hold ag-related sessions during the evening and invite everyone to stroll through the gardens. This is run by donations and plot fees and some grants. We donate to local after prom activities, special FFA and 4-H shows, and buy trophies for various animal shows.
