The 8 state foundations that comprise the Southeastern Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation, Inc. receive assessments collected from the cotton growers within their state by the respective state's department of agriculture. The state foundations remit these collections to the Southeastern foundation in payment of the actual expenses incurred to eradicate the boll weevil in each state. Approximately 182,400 acres of cotton in SC were treated by the Southeastern foundation in CY 2020.
