| FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION | AMERICAN-CARIBBEAN EXPERIENCE IS A CHRIST-BASED OUTREACH MINISTRY DEDICATED TO COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION IN THE PARISH OF ST. MARY, JAMAICA THROUGH STRATEGIC INITIATIVES IN EDUCATION, ENTERPRISE, HEALTHCARE, AND DISCIPLESHIP. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4A | EDUCATION - ACE OPERATES PROGRAMS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH THE CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM. FUNDING FROM CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROVIDES FOR THE PHYSICAL AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF STUDENTS. IN 2020 COVID HIT OUR MINISTRY LIKE SO MANY GLOBALLY. WITH SCHOOLS SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE YEAR, WE MOVED FROM OUR NORMAL SERVICE PROGRAM OF PROVIDING UNIFORMS, SHOES, AND SCHOOL MATERIALS, TO PROVIDING LOCAL COUNSELLING AS WELL AS MONTHLY FOOD PACKAGES FOR A FAMILY OF 6 PER HOUSEHOLD. THE FOOD PACKAGES WERE BASICS THAT A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY FEEDS THEIR FAMILIES: RICE, FLOUR, SUGAR, AND MACKEREL. ON AVERAGE, ACE SPONSORED 183 STUDENTS AND EMPLOYED THREE JAMAICAN STAFF MEMBERS TO COORDINATE THE SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM, AS WELL AS ONE STATESIDE STAFF TO OVERSEE CORRESPONDENCE AND ORGANIZATION OF THE PROGRAM. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4B | HEALTHCARE - DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC, ALL HEALTHCARE GROUPS WERE CANCELLED. ACE HAD ALSO PARTNERED WITH THE PORT MARIA INFIRMARY IN ASSISTING WITH THE ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED THAT HAVE NO PLACE TO LIVE. UNFORTUNATELY, ALL INFIRMARIES WERE CLOSED DUE TO COVID. THIS WAS A HARD FACT TO ACCEPT AS WE HAD BEEN PART OF THEIR FAMILY FOR 15 YEARS. HOWEVER, WE FOUND A LARGE COMMUNITY OF "SHUT IN SENIORS" LIVING ALONE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PARISH THAT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER WERE CONNECTED TO OUR FAMILIES THROUGH EITHER THE MICRO-BUSINESS OR CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM. ACE PROVIDED THE INFIRMARY WITH 5,380 DEPENDS AND BED PADS LAST YEAR. EVEN WITH THE PANDEMIC, OUR STAFF WAS ABLE TO DISTRIBUTE OVER 1,000 ADULT DIAPERS AND 300 BED PADS TO OUR "AT HOME" FAMILIES. WE MADE SURE THAT EVERY VISIT INCLUDED SINGING, READING THE BIBLE FOR THEM, AND DRINKING HOT TEA/COFFEE WITH POPCORN, A TREAT MOST SENIORS NEVER GET TO ENJOY. IF THEY NEEDED A HAIRCUT OR SHAVE, WE USED OUR EQUIPMENT TO HELP CLEAN THEM UP. THE BEST PART WAS JUST OFFERING LOVE AND TOUCH TO THESE SCARED ADULTS THAT KNEW ANY MOMENT THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD DIE. THIS WASN'T TRUE AND WE WERE BLESSED TO GET TO SPEND MORE THAN 2 HOURS OR MORE PER RESIDENT, UNLIKE THE CASE AT THE INFIRMARY. GIFTS COME IN LITTLE WAYS SOMETIMES. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4C | ENTERPRISE - THE MICRO-BUSINESS PROGRAM PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY FOR BUSINESS- MEN, WOMEN AND STUDENTS TO SPONSOR AN APPROVED JAMAICAN ENTREPRENEUR, WHICH IN TURN BENEFITTED OUR LOCAL JAMAICAN COMMUNITY. ULTIMATELY, THE GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM WAS TO HELP OUR JAMAICAN FRIENDS OPERATE A SELF-SUSTAINING BUSINESS, TEACHING THEIR CHILDREN THAT A FUTURE IS POSSIBLE IN A FAMILY BUSINESS. THE LARGEST MICRO-ENTERPRISE IS GALINA BREEZE HOTEL, WHICH EMPLOYED 29 EMPLOYEES WAS CLOSED DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC. SINCE ACE HAD PURCHASED THE GREEN LIFE LLANRUMNEY FARMS WHICH EMPLOYED NINE PEOPLE, WE GAVE OUR EMPLOYEES THE OPTION TO CROSS TRAIN AT THE FARM WHERE WE WERE GROWING FOOD AND OPERATING ANOTHER MICRO-BUSINESS CALLED BUCCANEERS, A LOCAL JERK CENTRE. SOME EMPLOYEES MADE THE DECISION TO RETIRE EARLY WHILE OTHERS GLADLY ACCEPTED THE WORK OPPORTUNITY AND TRAINING AT THE FARM. FROM OUR FARM, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SUSTAIN OUR FOOD LEVELS OF GREENS, FRUITS, NUTS TO CONSUME AND GIVE TO OUR NEIGHBORS AND EMPLOYEES. |
| FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4D | DISCIPLESHIP - CHURCHES IN 2020 WERE ALL BUT SHUT DOWN. NO ONE COULD ATTEND AND THE COMMUNITY FELT IT LIKE WE DID. INSTEAD, WE HELD CHURCH ONLINE BUT QUICKLY FOUND THAT MOST OF THE COMMUNITY WE SERVED HAD NO INTERNET OR ABILITY TO TUNE IN. INSTEAD, ACE HAD BEEN ABLE TO VISIT FAMILIES ONE-ON-ONE TO ENCOURAGE, READ, AND PRAY WITH ON A WEEKLY, DAILY BASIS. ACE CONTINUED OUR BOOK CLUB WHERE ANYONE ON STAFF HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SIT IN WEEKLY AND PARTICIPATE. MANY STAFF FELT THIS PROGRAM ENCOURAGED THEM VERSES THE FEAR THAT WAS BEING BROADCASTED CONTINUALLY. |
