    Summary of Direct Charitable Activities
List the foundation’s four largest direct charitable activities during the tax year. Include relevant statistical information such as the number of organizations and other beneficiaries served, conferences convened, research papers produced, etc. Expenses
1 Youth Workshops: The Bodecker Foundations partners with professional artists, musicians, designers, and educators to lead FREE, multidisciplinary workshops that empower creative youth, including those from traditionally underserved and underrepresented communities, to imagine and achieve their artistic, educational, and professional dreams. In 2020, the Bodecker Foundation hosted 35 youth workshops and events attended by 450 high school students, an increase of more than 3x the number of students served in 2019. (Six in person workshops and events took place at our headquarters at 2360 NW Quimby Street in Portland, Oregon prior to stay-at-home orders and 29 virtual workshops were held via Zoom from March thru December 2020). Workshop disciplines and creative career exploration throughout the year included songwriting, audio engineering, creative writing, fashion design, illustration, film/video production, photography, studio art, zine making, and portfolio development among others. 2 Artists & Musicians in Residence: The Bodecker Foundations headquarters at 2360 NW Quimby Street in Portland, Oregon include well-appointed creative spaces reserved exclusively for Artists and Musicians in Residence. Artists in Residence are invited to work out of the Foundation for a designated period of time while they focus on developing specific creative output. Residencies may include use of Halfling Studio, our on-site, state-of-the-art digital and analog recording studio, along with engineering and production support. In exchange, Artists and Musicians in Residence strengthen our collaborative community during their time with us by leading a youth focused workshop, panel, and/or salon event for adult community members. Bodecker Foundation resident artists in 2020 included artistic director and musician, Myles de Bastion whose work focuses on making sound visible to the deaf and hard of hearing community through vibration and light installations and Chicana visual artist, musicia 53,745
3 Community Engagement and Events: The Bodecker Foundation provides creative communities with an extraordinary and energetic space for workshops, gathering, and collaboration. Community events at 2360 NW Quimby Street in Portland, Oregon include film screenings, panel conversations, gallery shows, and a monthly experimental music, poetry, and performance series called Deep Happening. Additionally, the Foundation makes its spaces available for use by like-minded arts and non-profit organizations for their own fundraising events, trainings, board meetings, and staff planning sessions. While in person events were severely curtailed in 2020 due to the pandemic, we were able to host partner organizations College Possible, Future Prairie, Rock n Roll Camp for Girls, Film Fatale, the Recording Academy, and Black Resilience Fund (Brown Hope). In 2020 the Bodecker Foundation also made pandemic related cash donations to individual artists and community arts organizations to promote resilience and 52,875
