IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF HARRISONBURG ROCKINGHAM, WE LAUNCHED THE COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND AND DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 500,000 IN GRANTS TO LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. UWHR CONTRIBUTED 56,000 TO THE FUND FROM ITS RESERVE FUND. CONTINUED LEADERSHIP OF VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT IN OUR COMMUNITY VIA GET CONNECTED, A VOLUNTEER PORTAL ON OUR UNITED WAY WEBSITE MATCHING COMMUNITY MEMBERS WITH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES. IN THE PAST YEAR, VOLUNTEER AND DONATION NEEDS POSTED TO GET CONNECTED WERE VIEWED 28,003 TIMES. ALSO IN THE PAST YEAR, GET CONNECTED HAD 223 NEW USERS. UNITED WAY CONTINUES TO RECRUIT ORGANIZATIONS TO UTILIZE THIS TOOL TO RECRUIT VOLUNTEERS AND DONORS TO SUPPORT THEIR CAUSE. MOBILIZED A TOTAL OF 250 VOLUNTEERS WHO CONTRIBUTED 3,121 HOURS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY THROUGH UNITED WAY, FOR A VALUE OF 93,373 HOSTED THE ANNUAL DAY OF ACTION IN WHICH 137 VOLUNTEERS WORKED WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO MAKE RENOVATIONS ON FACILITIES, COMPLETE LANDSCAPING PROJECTS, PREPARE MEALS AND HELP WITH CLIENTS. CONDUCTED ANNUAL STUFF THE BUS EVENT, ALTHOUGH VIRTUALLY THIS YEAR, TOGETHER WITH HARRISONBURG RADIO GROUP, AS WELL AS HARRISONBURG CITY AND ROCKINGHAM COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. THE EFFORT RESULTED IN RAISING 28,997.60 ALL OF WHICH WAS PUT TOWARD PURCHASE SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR LOCAL FAMILIES. CONTINUED THE EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAM, FOCUSED ON LEADERSHIP, SERVICE, AND COMMUNITY NEEDS. TRANSITIONED OUR EMPOWER HARRISONBURG ROCKINGHAM NETWORK TO BE A PART OF THE NOW STATEWIDE NETWORK CALLED UNITE VIRGINIA. IT REMAINS A COORDINATED CARE NETWORK AIMED AT CONNECTING COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO BOTH MEDICAL AND SOCIAL HEALTH NEEDS. TO DATE, THERE ARE 36 ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR SERVICE AREA THAT ARE PARTICIPATING, CONTINUED BUILD UNITED, AN INITIATIVE THAT PROVIDES HOME REPAIRS TO HOMEOWNERS TO INCREASE SAFETY, ACCESSIBILITY AND WEATHERIZATION. IN ITS THIRD YEAR, WE COMPLETED 15 TOTAL PROJECTS FOR 13 UNIQUE CLIENTS. HOSTED THE SECOND ANNUAL GREATEST NEEDS DRIVE, COLLECTING 10,909 WORTH OF ITEMS NEEDED BY LOCAL NONPROFITS AND THEIR CLIENTS. |
