Supplemental Information. Provide the information required in Part I, line 2; Part III, column (b); and any other additional information.
Return Reference Explanation
Part I, Line 2: Each year during the Heart Rhythm Society's Annual Meeting, awards are presented to awardees based on specific criteria for each award category as detailed in the following descriptions. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, travel for staff and awardees were significantly curtailed. Journal Awards The awardees submit papers to be published in the Heart Rhythm Journal. The awards are selected by the Heart Rhythm Journal Editors for published papers. Award funds are issued to awardees before the meeting and the winner of The Zipes award is given travel reimbursement after the meeting. Lectureship Awards The lectureship awards are selected by the Program Committee Chair, Abstract Chair, President, 1st Vice President, and CEO. The lectureship recipient receives an honorarium and the travel and accommodation costs for the Annual Meeting is covered. Investigator Awards The Young Investigator Awards (YIA) competition recognizes and encourages the work of young investigators and their parent institutions. All submissions to the YIA Competition are reviewed by the YIA Sub-Committee (part of the Annual Meeting Committee and comprised of senior researchers, clinicians and scientists), who select six finalists to present their work during the Annual Meeting. All six YIA finalists receive complimentary registration to the Annual Meeting and reimbursement for travel expenses and there are two first prize monetary awards. Abstract Awards To be considered for an Abstract award, an individual must indicate interest in applying for the abstract award(s) during the regular abstract submission period - mid-December to mid-March. Abstracts must conform to the award rules and criteria and submitted by the deadline for abstract's First Author to be considered. The Heart Rhythm Society reserves the right to determine the number of awards made and to cancel the competition in a given year if submitted abstracts are deemed to not be of adequate quality or interest. Each recipient is awarded a plaque, monetary award, and complimentary registration to the Annual Meeting. Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) comprehensive track workshop travel grant The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) leadership and the Scientific and Clinical Documents Committee (SCDC) leadership have identified a need to provide resources to writing groups engaged in development of clinical practice documents, in order to increase the reliability and validity of document structure, recommendations, and implementation. One aspect of this enhancement program is to assign each writing group a member with skill in methodology of document creation. We aim to increase the number of available HRS methodology writing group members by specific training workshops. These workshops will serve as the foundation for improved development of clinical documents, systematic reviews, and clinical practice guidelines. The HRS will provide one travel grant up to $2500 to attend the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) comprehensive track workshop, which provides training and learning the principles of evidence-based medicine and guideline development for clinical or public health recommendations. There are 16+ hours of intensive hands-on training in small group settings with six facilitators and a maximum attendance of 44 participants. More details for the workshop can be found at https://www.gradeworkinggroup.org. The expectations for the recipient would include willingness to contribute in the following ways: 1. Provide a summary presentation of the learnings at a future SCDC meeting 2. Participate on a clinical document project as a writing committee member with an eye toward the methodological aspects of clinical document development 3. Participate in discussions within the SCDC to improve the HRS methodology for developing clinical documents, and ultimately guidelines.
