| Part III, Line 4b | | Explanation:| International Council of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations IAOPA currently represents over 358,000 members in 82 countries around the world. We continue to gain strength from our increased involvement at International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO and regional working groups. -New IFR regulation for GA finally adopted. IAOPA is happy to see the previously published EASA opinion adopted with no significant changes. -TEL and the uncertain future of Avgas 100LL - The future of high-octane Avgas is uncertain. An estimated 16,000 aircraft in Europe and more than 100,000 in the rest of the world need an Avgas with 100 octane. What is the European IAOPA doing now? Together with different aviation associations we issued a statement with the aim of postponing the authorization until an unleaded fuel alternative is on the market. The further use of TEL cannot be negotiated on a permanent basis. -The European Union Aviation Safety Agency EASA and the European Commission EC had to provide the U-Space implementing regulation within an unrealistically short time frame which led to a situation where many technical and operational details remain unresolved. It remains up to Member States MS to decide what measures to take and how to design the U-space airspace. This means that different rules may apply across the EU without a clear harmonized approach. -Since aviation began its expansion one of the greatest risks has always been an in-flight collision. The responsibility for collision avoidance lies partly with ATC and partly with the pilot who without technical support still relies on "see and avoid" techniques to avoid collisions. IAOPA urges the European Commission and EASA to implement the already existing standard using two different frequencies so that the number of collisions and especially the number of fatalities resulting from these collisions can be seriously reduced. By increasing situational awareness among pilots controllers and AFISOs -In December 2020 EASA released 'NPA 2020-014' which proposed a number of amendments to the Aircrew Regulation the objective of which is to address miscellaneous efficiency and proportionality issues in Annex I Part-FCL to Commission Regulation EU No 1178 2011 with regard to General Aviation. -AOPA Denmark launches new Safety Initiative for Private Airfields. Following a number of tragic accidents in recent years AOPA Denmark is now launching a new safety initiative with focus on mainly private airfields which are overrepresented in the accident statistics. The initiative involves several different actions such as: -More widespread use of halfway runway markers at smaller airfields -Offering an "AOPA safety review" to private airfields -Dissemination of identified safety hazards both online and in relevant publications -NOTAM system for private airfields -Publications and safety seminars focusing on how to operate more safely at private airfields and using the new tools. For instance using the half-way markers with the 70 50 rule of thumb during take-off check that at least 70% of required airspeed has been obtained when passing half-way marker -New look for IAOPA website - The website of IAOPA the umbrella body for all national AOPAs has undergone a total makeover: see https: iaopa.aopa.org. |
