| Part VIII-A | Part VIII-A | THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE OPERATION OF FINEDGE, FORMERLY KNOWN AS MAGNETAR YOUTH INVESTMENT ACADEMY. IN 2019 THE ACADEMY WAS REBRANDED AND REPLACED BY FINEDGE. FINEDGE IS A UNIQUE, HANDS-ON, INNOVATIVE FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, WITH AN EMPHASIS OF OFFERING THE PROGRAM IN HIGH SCHOOLS IN ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES. AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2021, FINEDGE WAS OPERATING IN 32 HIGH SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE THAT LARGELY SERVE LOW-INCOME STUDENTS. FINEDGE IS A SINGLE-SEMESTER HIGH SCHOOL FINANCIAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM, WHICH TEACHES IN WAYS STUDENTS LEARN BEST, OFFERING CAREFULLY-DESIGNED COURSEWORK THAT ENCOURAGES QUESTIONING, DISCUSSING, AND APPLYING CONCEPTS TO ONE'S OWN UNIQUE FINANCIAL SITUATION. ITS MODULES BUILD OFF EACH OTHER TO HELP STUDENTS DEVELOP THEIR OWN ATTITUDES AND POSITIVE BEHAVIORS AROUND MONEY, WHILE SHARPENING THEIR FINANCIAL DECISION-MAKING SKILLS. STUDENT EVENTS INCLUDE A DAY-LONG INVESTMENT COMPETITION, MAGNETAR STOCK TRADING CHALLENGE, DURING WHICH HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS BUILD AND MANAGE A MOCK INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO OVER THREE ECONOMIC CYCLES. GRANTS ARE AWARDED TO THE HIGH SCHOOLS WHOSE TEAMS' PORTFOLIOS PERFORM AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS. MAGNETAR CAPITAL FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDES GRANT PAYMENTS TO VARIOUS PUBLIC CHARITIES THROUGH INTERNAL REQUESTS BY THE MAGNETAR CAPITAL EMPLOYEES. THIS PORTION OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. The Foundation is a fiscal sponsor to the corporation Financial Literacy and Education Foundation, Inc. ("FLITE") through a Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement. The primary purpose of FLITE is to provide students, especially those from lower income communities with the tools they need to lead financially-informed successful lives. As per the Sponsorship Agreement, the Foundation has approved the establishment of a donor restricted fund (the "Fund") to receive donations of cash and other property earmarked for the charitable purpose of FLITE. The Foundation exercises full control over the financial administration, management and disbursement of the Fund. The activities of FLITE are consolidated with disbursement of the Fund. |
