Both the family officers of Maynard Foundation AND their CPA tax preparer suffered serious family medical difficulties in 2021 and 2022. The CPA was not able to adopt and learn a new program to allow the Foundation to finally use electronic filing for the 990-PF. The CPA's wife passed away in July 2022 after a long illness. Due to so much time with hospitals, and recovery from surgeries, the Foundation officers did not finish 2021 accounting until mid-November 2022. The 2020 return was filed originally on paper, but was rejected as it was not E-filed. So the problem covered both 2020 and 2021. All of these problems are finally resolved. Future 990-PF returns, and extensions, can now be E-filed as the regulations require. Also, an EFTPS account is now set up so payments no longer require paper checks, which was the only option in past years. Since the 2021 tax was paid in full, on time, and the filing issues are now resolved for both years, we respectfully ask for a waiver of late filing penalties, and a fresh start for this family foundation.
